That or it was one of her counterpart’s ancestors. I have notice at times the Cutie Mark can sometimes work as a family coat of arms. Since Twilight, Shining, and maybe Shining’s favorite uncle all had that six pointed Star on there Cutie Mark, and I’m guessing Celestia knew that Cadence was the rightful air to the Crystal Empire throne since she had the Crystal Heart on her Cutie Mark.

Huh the school seems to have part of her Cutie Mark on it. What if Twi does have a counterpart she lived a hundred years ago and was the founder of this school.
