only a year? thats quite fast to get some basic quality, time and effort will tell if you keep improving but i’m sure you will, just put the effort in drawing and learning new stuff, big things are not reach in one night, i for one i’ve been for 10 years and yet i’m still trying to improve myself. so dont worry, good things come with time and effort.

I will say, expensive tools - while helpful for efficiency - aren’t everything. 90% of the rendering I did in this was done with simple brushes, a blend tool, and an airbrush tool, along with clever use of the selection tools. Don’t ever feel like you gotta pay more to make art. Your art is very cute and you should keep it up!
you already have a base, just keep practicing and look out for tutorials and im sure you will improve and make bigger and better things :)
