I’m not a brony, hell I don’t even watch the show. But your fandom us very…amusing, especially when it comes to drama with certain subjects. This site in particular is a LOL goldmine. In short, the image recieves my approval.

OP is actually right. I’m tired of all these people arguing one way or the other. I’d rather be watching ponies.

Like I said,I’m gonna hold my judgement until I actually see the damned movie. If its good I will scream from the roof tops “HOLY SHIT EQG IS ACTUALLY GOOD! I KNOW,I CAN’T BELIEVE IT EITHER!”. If it shit on a biscuit ,well then…I’m not gonna be surprised…

Seems to me initial reactions to the concept are coloring everyone’s perceptions, because there really isn’t much in the preview to complain about.

My only real complaint is…why relate it to the canon!? What possible use does that serve!? Oh,and a love interest..and I’m just confused about that…more questions needs to be answered before I can make a final judgement…but in all honesty it isn’t looking very good. Still gonna see it…just hope it’s not gonna blow chunks…

Friends, I like the way you think, esp. regarding the ‘projection’ thing. This is why I think so many people are upset at the supposed negative direction of the show: They are projecting too much of what they want it to be into the show itself.
 
This is why you get a lot of “betrayals” from certain individuals.

Then again, now that I think about it, the White knighters aren’t doing much better if they are using it as an excuse to attack people. They just end up making those who support the idea look bad.

I suppose the negative “idiots” either;  
A) Think their opinion is able to change or get rid of things that a lot of time and money went into and is finished anyway.  
B) Project way too much into the characters without thinking that they could live their own lives instead.  
C) Only view the shows and characters as money factories, and don’t emphasize with them at all.  
D) Have not actually bothered to look up anything on any related material. (such as the plot synopsis and trailer).
 
If you don’t like the idea, fine, don’t watch it, but don’t go around spreading hate and bile like a spoilt brat just because you don’t like change. Any spin off, reboot, or sequel series is going to change things. It won’t change the original show.

This. I too am impartial to Equestria Girls, which is why I haven’t been going round posting the usual SF Debris quote for controversial changes.

This image reminds me of Derpygate. After the edit hit, many fans polarized and bickered endlessly (like now with EQG). This was further exacerbated by trolls looking for trouble and posters sick of all the arguing, which made having a reasonable discussion about the subject nearly impossible.
 
At the very least, the ‘wait-and-see’ attitude is prevailing sooner than expected.

So i’m a fan? Coz I’m interested.

Things that people find distasteful will often ruin what might otherwise be a good experience. Seeing the presence of distasteful elements is a strong indicator that the overall experience will be unpleasant.
 
Many of the episodes in FiM are well done, even the ones that I dislike. For example, the Mysterious Mare Do Well had good animation, music, voice acting, exciting action sequences, and more. However, certain elements of the story and character portrayals effectively broke the illusion for many viewers.
 
If you have an excellent apple pie, and someone blows their nose on it, most people will be unwilling to eat the excellent pie on account of the unpleasant additives.
 
Likewise with Equestria Girls, you will find a number of people who see something in the preview material they don’t like and choose to abstain from the full experience because of it. This is not irrational behavior.
 
Neither is it irrational for someone to decide that they don’t mind the added qualities that others find distasteful.

I’ve often wondered if it would be possible to start a splinter group of the fandom that actually does believe in “love & tolerate”. It’d be tiny compared to the rest of the fandom, I’m sure, but at least it’d be enjoyable.

Same here, I’m pretty much “neutral” on E.G. to. I doubt it’ll be an “award-winning masterpiece,” nor do I think it looks like a “blasphemous abomination, that must burn.”

In the same way as some dislike the concept, others like it. Why act like that position is any less legitimate?

And that is why I’m not saying that I like or dislike it. I am just looking forward to it with hopeful optimism. The trailer for it has giving my hopefulness a bit of a boost.
