See, it’s this kind of stuff that has people convinced Scootaloo is an orphan, Pinkie’s third sister is a ghost, and Twilight was taken away from her parents by Celestia. Is it really that necessary to show everyone’s families in the show?

It’s a sad and enjoyable headcanon actually. I assumed she started going there after school once they had gotten closer is Sisterhooves Social

The sad thing is, since we rarely see Sweetie Belle with her parents, and the one time we did (not counting Magnum’s cameo in One Bad Apple), they were basically dumping her on Rarity’s doorstep so they could go on vacation (and it’s implied that this happens often), Rarity practically IS her mother.

Lol. This would be funnier with Applejack and Apple Bloom

This reminds me of a comic that was made by… that guy that made so many Scootabuse pictures back in the days…  
A younger Rarity holds a Sweetie Belle in G3 colors, trying to convince her parents that they should raise her as their own daughter, so Rarity could live her life and become a great designer. They answer her that nobody would believe it was their foal, because they are both white unicorns. So Rarity use bleach to turn Sweetie Belle white.

There was a bit of headcanon for a while that Sweetie Belle was Rarity’s illegitimate daughter. It died after Sisterhooves Social, though.
