She looks about seven or eight years old. She was old enough to be in a poetry slam and to go out and collect Glowpaz crystals on her own. Besides, she’d still want to go back to her dad, and if she remembered anything about her life before Opaline, she’d be more distracted.

I think Opaline wiped Misty’s memories of her life before they met to keep her loyal and obedient to her. If she couldn’t remember her dad, she wouldn’t try to go home. When Opaline is defeated, Misty will remember.
