I was originally going to do actual dragonflies, because they’re already very cool, but I thought “This is Equestria… the sky’s the limit” so I went with a dragonfly/mantis/butterfly/firefly hybrid. Too much? Maybe. But then the picture started as one with just Pinkie, and then Twilight was added, and then once I thought of the dragon/insect theme, well… Fluttershy and Spike became a must. So it’s really just a minor doodle that kept growing on its own.

Summer is winding down and we’re heading into Fall (hopefully… we’ll see when the heat finally breaks for good), so this works as the bookend to summer with the Trixie/Starlight one. Hopefully you enjoy it as a peaceful capper to the summer nights and that you and yours found a bit of magic in the season!
