Given the way Misty was raised, her lack of honesty is understandable. She was effectively raised in abject terror of everything, with Opaline making sure that she was the only one who could ever care about Misty. This was a massive mental roadblock for her, and her journey through that is honestly incredible. It’s the first time I have seen an MLP character be psychologically challenged like that, with Misty being mentally trapped almost as much as she was physically trapped.

The darting eyes, the uncertain smile, the ear fold - I’m gonna give that a solid 9 out of 10, would headpat.

well the mane 5 did offered their trust and even though she threw it all away, she made up for it by freeing them (and getting her true cutie mark), and in the end they understand how sad her life was when living with that tyrant, and forgave her as well.
