I always just enjoy Cozy’s evilness. I guess I wouldn’t mind if she was reformed and became like Starlight but I get to at least see a really cool villain.

I always admire villains like Cozy and Starlight. A simple pegasus filly and a slightly more powerful unicorn did things more fearsome than a bunch of gods and monsters.

I don’t wanna get to much into this never ending argument as it’s 2024 but discord siding with tirek is not the same as cozy glow betraying everyone after the school of friendship.

Discord took convincing to do that and even before getting betrayed by tirek showed signs of remorse and didn’t reveal that he knew that the alicorns gave their magic to twilight until tirek convinced him that he was his friend.

He was operating under the belief that fluttershy and the others didn’t view him as a friend or want him to be himself. That tirek could offer him something more valuable than friendship.

Also having just fluttershy while being hated by everyone else is not even close to the same support system as EVERYONE in the cast at the school caring for her and treating her as a friend like the student 6, cmc, And mane six.
While being taught friendship.

When was the last time Discord was taught anything? He always has to learn something after messing up because no one teaches him anything.

Discord may have done more bad overall than cozy but cozy is certainly more evil in nature. Discord is a spirit of chaos and disharmony, his very existence is meant to go against friendship and to cause havoc around him and YET he still found the light and wants to be a better person despite all his mistakes and faults. Had no friends or family until recently.

Cozy glow is a normal pony who chooses to go against friendship even after being handed literally everything and given she never says anything, this sad backstory or reasoning for her actions that fans claim is fanfiction and headcanon lol

This is not to say it would be impossible for cozy glow to be redeemed or you can’t think this was too harsh (even though there not awake and escaped in idw s10 anyways)

But Cozy Glow and Discord are NOT in the same category

The sheer amount of vitriol against that poor filly is quite odd. I don’t understand why people want her to suffer so much. She clearly deserves the same second chance that Discord and Starlight got.

I believe this argument is flawed. The reason being is that Cozy’s issue is that she misunderstood friendship, not reject it.

Yes, she was good at solving tests and doing random chores for the teachers, however, that does not translate to worldly experience. She knew the basics, but not the actual application. She saw friendship as a source of power and essentially had a Skewed meaning of it. Because of this, her problem was different in a way then other villains, but not unfixable. The problem is that Twilight never once made an attempt to correct her misconceptions about friendship and try to help her change for the better. She was essentially given up on instead of being given the help she needed to correct her misunderstanding.

The friendship school is not a reform school nor is it some sort of super reformation environment. Teachers are there to teach history and whatever subject seems to be based off the teacher’s job, not to rehabilitate villains. Discord needed Fluttershy working specifically to help him change before he even begun to get better. They are, by all accounts completely different things. By that logic, I could say that Starlight should never have become evil because she still had a loving father even after Sunburst moved out.

Another thing to note is that Discord has betrayed the trust of his friends numerous times after he was granted a second chance. He sided with Tirek after all Fluttershy did for him, endangered some students by having them be chased with a bugbear and his whole thing in season 9, which was an undoubtedly very cruel act of his. Saying that Cozy is irredeemable because she was in a friendly environment before is not very fair when Discord did essentially the same exact thing.

Speaking of fairness, that’s another thing to point out: Discord was given a second chance despite doing nothing to earn it, betrayed Equestria twice and was forgiven almost immediately afterwards. Ever since he was released, he did horrible thing after horrible thing and yet he was constantly forgive. Meanwhile, Cozy was given up on immediately after it was found out that she’s a villain. Absolutely no chances were provided to her. She wasn’t released for rehabilitation, no one attempted to try and help her change and no offer of a second chance was ever provided. She got no chances, nothing.

As for her even being able to embrace friendship and change for the better as a result, we could see that being very much possible in Frenemies, where she did learn proper teamwork and did show genuine enjoyment at helping others. Yes, Chrysalis snapped her out of it, but consider how no other villain before the trio actually managed to come to that sort of realization on their own. The only issue is that they, and by extension Cozy, was not given any help in going any further then that, but that scene proved that she does indeed have the capacity to change.

Now, did Cozy commit objectively evil and dangerous deeds? Yes.
Were those deeds any better or worse then the ones commited by any other major villain, reformed or otherwise? No.
Did she deserve some sort of punishment for those actions? Probably.
Should that punishment come in the form of being locked in a tiny cage or being turned to stone? Absolutely not.
Did she deserve a chance to change for the better and achieve a happy ending like Discord and Starlight? 100%
Could she reform if given some time and proper help? Totally.

And regarding Tirek and Chrysalis, I believe that they too could be rehabilitated and deserve second chances after all the things Discord got away with. Especially Tirek.

I am sorry if it came off that way, but I never said anything about deserving punishment or justice. You seem to be mixing up punishment/justice with social vengeance. This is not about exacting a hate on the guilty (which is wrong). I doubt few who understand also see it that way. It is odd that you are so focused on that.

The highest form of morality is to self-sacrifice for the benefit of others, to zero benefit of your own, even if it hurts you. That is the ultimate moral here, that is Friendship. This is what everybody should be doing.

At minimum, you can choose to benefit yourself without reaching out to actively harm others and still maintain some harmony, but it’s a spiteful way to live. We see this with a lot of show antagonists, specifically with greed.

Those who willing to go out of their way to harm others have a name: criminals. We lock them up and punish them so they associate wrongdoing with ill. Punishment is ideal for the benefit of the wrongdoer to learn and turn. Hopefully we curb the behavior, but sometimes it is difficult to tell.

But to knowingly and willingly violate the right of life to others in your whole world for your personal benefit, rejecting multiple counts to turn from evil as with Legion of Doom (including Cozy Glow), you are a living menace to society and should be cut off. Instead at that point, it is no longer about punishment; now we are just culling/protecting society, pausing resources spent to watch the evil, and to make a horrifically fearful example for the benefit of others to behold. These actions should have ultimate and serious consequences. This is necessary because everyone is capable of great evil.
But through this harmony is restored and hopefully maintained.

That is the lesson.

And I’ll leave this: the reasoning is fine, just a matter of choosing to [not] believe this philosophy.

Then you’re just in the minory that cannot accept that there are such things as “murderer children”, whether in Fiction or IRL, there are some things that are hard to describe.

But for the sake of keeping this conversation in Pony land without draging elements from reality, I still hold to my opinion, and i am sure that i speak in the name of many about that little devil:

Your reasoning is still flawed. I don’t care what others say. People here have a crooked sense of justice. I’ll leave off with this. Even if you say or believe that these three deserved punishment, being imprisoned in stone wasn’t the way to do it considering they were already defeated and weakened. What was wrong with just poofing them back to Tartarus? Cozy and Tirek were doing just fine in there until Discord bailed them out. Heroes shouldn’t execute or kill a criminal that’s unarmed and immobilized. That’s not something you should teach kids in a family/children show. But that’s essentially what Celestia, Luna, and Discord did… you can’t refute or deny this statement. “Together forever.” If the intention was to leave them as a stone statue for eternity then they might as well be dead.

I hate this fate that was given to them and everything it stands for while going against the themes of the show, I hate that the writers thought it was okay to draft and greenlight this, and I hate that people are just fine with it. Oh but good to know that I’m a part of a fandom that advocates for children to be allowed to get the death penalty. I’m done here.

I dare to say there’s nowadays many images of Cozy being forgiven and all that, but if any see pictures of Diamond Tiara before 2015 you’d think bronies were a bunch of bloodthirsty guys wanting utter destruction against an actual schoolyard bully.
