G4 wasn’t that great. Sure, it got off to a good start but Hasbro didn’t follow Faust’s original plans for the fim series and tossed them out the window. Due to doing that, fim fell apart by Season 8 and got a terrible ending in Season 9.
Thanks to that terrible ending, G5 has a chance to be better than fim now and it’s all the writers’ fault for not following through with Faust’s original plans for fim.
Too bad but fim is already doomed and chances are G5 will probably end up being better than fim was by the time the G5 series is over.

G4 was at its best when it was about the main characters growing in small but believable ways based on social interactions they didn’t have good experience with before. Later G4 and current G5 seems to take the idea of ‘friendship is magic’ way too literally by treating characters as if being friends with somebody is some foriegn concept they’d never heard of.
