You know, just because something is predictable doesn’t mean it’s bad writing, and likewise something breaking expectations doesn’t make it good writing. FiM’s conclusion for the arc with Cozy Glow, Tirek, and Queen Chrysalis was widely reviled over wasting an opportunity for a satisfying redemption arc and jarringly breaking from form. I don’t imagine the writers for Make Your Mark are foolish enough to repeat that mistake so soon.

I wholeheartedly agree. They’ve done a great job so far setting up Misty to be sympathetic and likeable, and it won’t be difficult to follow through with that for a satisfying arc.

I d’awwed out loud when I first saw this! Misty is such a precious nervous orphan girl, and I want nothing more than to see her join the Mane Five as a friend and free herself from the shackles of Opaline’s abuse.

You’re taking Opaline at her word. Perhaps she did save Misty as a filly. But whose to say she wasn’t the reason Misty needed to be saved in the first place?
And aside from not having a cutie mark, Misty doesn’t stand out from anypony else. Hell, Opaline is probably using her as a trojan horse to set up her eventual return to Equestria.

Making Misty a main character with the mane 5 will be a bad idea and will mess up the series and make some fans mad so it’s better if Misty is just a side character like Starlight Glimmer was in fim and sets her own path in G5. I think making that move will be better for Misty in the G5 series and fans will still be happy about it.
Hasbro has ruined G5 enough, so I don’t they’ll be dumb enough to ruin it any further so they’re not likely going to make Misty a main character and have her join the mane 5 and make it the mane 6.
Besides everyone said the same thing about Spout and he never joined the mane 5 after the movie ended so it’s very unlikely that Misty will join the Mane 5 and make them the Mane 6 so don’t get your hopes up, you’ll only set yourselves up for a big disappointment later.

Honestly, I would love if, should Misty indeed join with the Mane 5, Opaline would realize that she needed Misty just as much as Misty needed her - that they were co-dependents in an unhealthy relationship.
But I’ll probably enjoy it no matter what. It was the same way with FiM - sure, there were things that I wish were explored more, or had been handled differently, but no matter what, I enjoyed every episode * at least a little bit, because I always appreciated it for what it was: a fun, colorful kids’ show with likable characters. I can’t see G5 being any different.
*Well, almost every episode - there was one that I didn’t enjoy but it’s mostly just down to my personal tastes forever staining my opinion of it.

Starlight was the primary victimiser and such an unlikeable Trollope that when her pathetic backstory and redemption came out of left field it was infuriating.
Misty is not an evil mastermind. She’s a minion who seems to have a good heart but has been lied too and manipulated by opaline who seems to have been her only “friend” for a long time. Perhaps opaline even raised her.
Misty is very sympathetic and likeable to the point I actually want to see her break free and redeem herself. As long as she doesn’t try to hurt anyone, she deserves it.
