Yeah, I actually have a bad habit of style-hopping and I really wish I didn’t Dx

I think it’s just sort of how I was conditioned as an artist. Growing up, I didn’t have a specific ‘favorite’ artist, I had several, and they were usually on completely opposing ends of the style spectrum, so I learned how to draw in, not one, but several styles at one time. Also, I’ve never taken any classes on drawing or painting, so my methods were never biased by an instructor’s lesson. There are probably other reasons, but I can’t think of them off-top.

I still have the same issue, too.
For example, my favorite non-pony artists are pretty diverse:

Axel Torvenius - http://torvenius.deviantart.com/
Jonathan Calugi - http://www.happyloverstown.eu/wordpress/
Bruno Penebranca - http://penabranca.tumblr.com/

etc. etc.

Same with music, too. Just today, I’ve listened to Earl Sweatshirt, Tame Impala, Florence and the Machine, Flyleaf, Captain Murphy, Flying Lotus, Gorillaz and a portion of the Skyrim soundtrack… In that order

So yeah, I realize that mimicry is visible in my artwork, but I’m trying to keep it down as much as I can though. For now, the only attributes that can be identified as ‘Aqua/Terra’s art’ is the tuft ears, my methods of coloring and shading, the ‘never-black’ lineart, and the shiny-ass butts xD

I’m still exploring styles, currently, and it’s most likely that I will not permanently cling to a single one in particular (last time I tried to do that, I ended up burning myself out, artistically, for nearly a month!), but I do understand that I should probably keep the baseball inside the ballpark if I want anybody to recognize me.

Thank you for your comment, though! I really appreciate constructive criticism~

Is it only me who finds Terrabutt’s drawing style to jump about like a drunken sailor on a pogo stick? Not in a bad way, just in the sort of “I feel like this looks like another artist I have seen before, but not quite”? Cause bloody damn, every single picture reminds me to someone else.
