its just a pony
But it’s impractical to have two separate tags for a single pony. Ideally, the “colgate” tag should either be used for images related to Colgate products or be aliased to the “minuette” tag.
No, I’d say it’s win-win.
Derpibooru allows both tags, so you can be content that Minuette is her “official” name, while the fans can keep on calling her Colgate. If you don’t like the name, that’s fine - you can just ignore all the fanworks that have her name “wrong”. And you’ll still be able to find all the art of her on Derpibooru, because it’ll be tagged Minuette as well as Colgate.
Really, the only ones who DON’T win in this situation are people who are specifically looking for pictures of Minuette the Twilight-looking Crystal Pony.
And really, how often is THAT gonna happen?
It’s not win-win.
There are people who prefer the pony from the show (who is - as show by Hasbro, Enterplay and Gameloft - the same pony from the blind bags) to be called Minuette, because it’s more beautiful and fitting, in their opinion.
Only one of the two official Hasbro toys looks like that, and only because every single one of the basic ponies in blind bag wave 4 (almost all of which are from the show) is glittery there.
Also, “Time Turner” originated from the trading cards, while “Minuette” originated from Hasbro itself.
Minuette isn’t normally glittery; she and all the other glittery ponies from blind bag wave 4 (which includes the mane six glittery too) appear normal in blind bag wave 6 (>>118723).
And the trading cards (which aren’t an April Fools’ joke; note how old >>278927 is) aren’t all that’s featured Minuette with her in-show design; the mobile game has too.
Agreed! So far the game is absolutely consistent with official material. Minuette is a unicorn pony who is “always on time”, and looks like a glittery blue version of Twilight Sparkle.
The trading card scans were very likely an April Fools’ joke. And even if they weren’t, their canonicity is doubtful - they gave us “Time Turner”, while Hasbro has officially dubbed him Doctor Whooves.
Not that I expect Hasbro to actually come out and declare that Ponyville’s dentist is named Colgate, but I’m fine with her remaining nameless. As with Derpy, we all know who she is, even if Hasbro dare not speak her name.
(Besides, this version of Minuette is adorable, and deserves to be her own pony.)
Plenty of ponies from the show are recolors in the blind bags, and the earliest posting of the series 2 trading cards was back in late March.
Ah, okay, I see that the one I have is the sparkly blind bag pony. She still looks the same though. A twilight sparkle recolor. I can’t help but notice that the trading cards were posted on April first though, so … I think I’ll reserve judgement for an actual pony toy in the regular line. Until then, I’m fine with them being two separate ponies :)
>>285024 for the trading card, >>118723 for the normal blind bag version
Can you show us your source? I’ve never seen that. All I can tell is that she looks like the bb version Minuette I have. The card that comes with her just says, “is always on time with the help of some magic”. Never seen a regular toy of her …
The trading cards and mobile game have shown that the pony unnamed in the show and the blind bag pony named Minuette are officially one and the same.
@Rainbow Dude
I still don’t see why fanon name tags haven’t been aliased to official name tags…
I can’t change them because the rules say neither fanon nor official name tags should be removed.
Rainbow Dude’s the guy who keeps trying to change all the Colgate tags to “Minuette” on the booru.
I think he’s just annoyed that the intro emphasizes that they’re two different ponies.
It’s not nightmare fuel at all. Just the pantomime villain, no Luna jump scares or anything.
It’s a time-attack platformer.

I’m out. And you’re wrong.
