“Uh, Twi?” Timber stopped in his tracks as he looked back at his girlfriend, wondering why she was starting to fall behind. As it turned out, she seemed to be far too busy fiddling with her skirt to keep up. “You okay back there?”

Twilight looked up, laughing nervously. “Oh, sorry!” As she began to pick up the pace, it became pretty clear what the problem was. Though she obviously tried to keep it sucked in, it did little to hide the extra bounce in her belly. “It’s nothing,” she sheepishly explained, still tugging on the tight waistline of her skirt. “I think I’ve just been, you know, putting on a bit of water weight lately.”

“Hey, no worries,” Timber nodded as they held each other’s hands and continued through the park. Despite her boyfriend’s optimism, however, Twilight had been feeling rather uneasy all day.

What should’ve been a fun date felt like an endless ordeal. As if her tightening clothes weren’t enough, she also had to deal with her newly insatiable appetite. Picking up burgers on the way to and from the movie theater was one thing. Getting up for extra popcorn and candy three times during the actual screening was becoming a problem. Though, Twilight had to admit, she knew wasn’t missing much. Some kid turning into a superhero wasn’t exactly on her watchlist.

Regardless, her newly-formed pudge was getting hard to ignore. Her family’s noticing. Her friends as well. And now that he’s able to visit from his family-owned campground, her boyfriend knows too.

She had already told him everything there was to know about this strange fattening magic that’s been spreading around town beforehand. And yet, Twilight’s anxiety was through the roof as her mind raced with so many questions. What was going to happen to her? To her family and her friends? What will happen with her first real boyfriend?

GROWL

Snapping out of her internal panic, Twilight looked down at her chubby belly as she once again heard an audibly hungry growl. She sighed heavily, crossing her arms over her soft pudge in hopes to keep it hidden away.

“You know,” Timber suddenly spoke up. “Even if it is more than just ‘a bit of water weight’, it really wouldn’t matter to me.”

Twilight looked up, unsure of what to say at first. She wasn’t even aware that Timber had been noticing her stressed-out state of mind. “Uh, are you sure?” Twilight replied anxiously. “I mean, you… you’ve seen how big some of the others have been getting. So I have no idea how heavy I’m going to end u-AHH!”

Suddenly and without warning, Timber took a step behind her and literally swept her off her feet. Taken by surprise, Twilight blushed at the unexpected gesture, as did Timber. “No need to fear, my lady!” he exclaimed, trying to do his best superhero impression. “You can count on me to lift your spirits up!”

Twilight began laughing so hard, she started to snort. “Alright, alright, my hero! You can put me down now! Haha!”

“R-right. Sorry.” Timber nodded, feeling himself cringing as he brought Twilight back down to earth. “Just thought it would lighten things up a bit.”

Still blushing, they held hands once again and continued on their way.

Maybe in the end, things were going to be okay after all…
