Depends on the pear.  
The d’Anjou is a good choice if you like syrupy sweet fruit. The Eurasian pear is good if you like crisp fruit.  
The others fall somewhere in between.

Like apples but sweeter. They’re also a lot messier and go bad a lot faster. I like pear flavor better, but apples are just more convenient to deal with.
