Twilight received no brainwashing from Discord, just normally verbal manipulation.
Fluttershy was all brainwashing since Discord couldn’t verbally break her. I assume that this fact is part of the reason Celestia tapped her to reform him.

Well, considering Discord’s conception started out with an archive binge of TNG, I suspect it’s intentional.
Remember that a lot of his character was created by the writers. Apparently, they specifically looked for a voice actor who could be an expy of Q, then ended up shatting themselves because they actually got the man himself.
And I still don’t trust him.
Discord has likely existed for eons and therefore has to use his powers in childish ways just to keep himself from getting bored.
He used his powers to brainwash 5 of the mane six.
I’d say that’s pretty badass.
The analogy was meant to be: it’s not your powers that make you badass, it’s how you can use them.
