Rarijack was only hinted at in the EQ universe. In the pony world Rarity was generally after the Prince of her dreams.

Personally, I see it as a win-win. AppleDash, a legacy shipping, became a thing in the main continuity, while Rarijack DID happen within Equestria Girls universe.
Would’ve been a triple if we got Sparity in the main continuity, too. Because they have just as much chemistry, if not more than Rarijack. But that’s my preference.

I honestly think there was a problem with the Rarijack relationship and it was because of Rarity’s career….
We know that some relationships don’t last, but in the end you know the right one.
The truth is that the series will never show us the dark chapters of the Mane 6 and/or their traumas.

Honestly, if the writers were willing to hint/intend AppleDash and FlutterCord, they should’ve at least done the same for Rarity, (preferably with Spike, but at least SOMEPONY)
It’s just so unsatisfying to imagine her out of the mane 6 growing old alone…
