There are enough fans enough in my tiny country Taiwan to at least fill a small convention. I’m sure there are way more from a bigger country like Japan, and nicknames can happen no matter how big the fandoms.
Are there even that many Japanese fans of MLP? I know there are a few, but MLP is more of a Western show. There are a few fans (like you) that are in Asia, but the vast majority are either in North America (largely in the US and Canada) or in Europe.
Maybe it’s a pun. “taloo” sounds similar to “tarou”. It might also be a specific nickname Japanese fans have for her. She is a tomboy too. Makes sense for her to get a nickname like that.
