That’s a different issue. At this moment, she seems to be into Blueblood quite a lot, whether or not that’s because of his looks, his status, or a combination thereof.
Edited
This is still S1E1 Rarity, who has that naive dream of meeting “her prince” and becoming his treasured princess in a fairy tale like scenario. She has only heard of him but never met him or any of those guys. She’s getting exited because of that fantasy. It’s about the concept, not about him as a person.
When she met him she found him attractive but realized they weren’t compatible and that fantasy went poof.
So no, she is indeed not into Blueblood.
But that’s a very cute hairstyle for Twilight. Also, fangs XD
When I said “her” connection to … , I was referring to Twilight, not Rarity. I guess quoting the entire line made that a bit muddy.
Well, Rarity’s behavior was a tad questionable, but gold digger is a bit too harsh.
She had that naive dream of “glamour and sophistication”. True, she would’ve gotten those things because of her chosen stallions money and social standing, but a fairy tale like romance was part of her dream. When Blueblood acted like a jerk and she realized they weren’t compatible, she re-evaluated her priorities. Not what a true gold digger would’ve done. The opposite actually. But they could’ve handled that scene a bit better. On the other hand no-one acted like a role model that evening and maybe that was the whole point. but I haven’t watched that ep in a while
There was blame enough for both.
Well, it was not that complicated in the canon version.
In my eyes Rarity was clearly behaving like a gold digger, she did not give a darn about him as a person, only his title, influence and money seemed to interest her…
He should be fully aware of her connection to Celestia, Cadance and Shining Armor.
Physically attacking her, personally or by proxy, would be social suicide if not worse.
Well, lesser nobility makes a lot of sense in most AUs and even the canon.
but their parents must have a decent amount of money and connections. Living in Canterlot can’t be cheap and Shining isn’t that much older than Twi, yet he made it to cpt of the royal guard at such a young age. Looks like something accelerated his career. And Twi got into what has to be the most prestigious and expensive school in EQ. Not to mention her private quarters. She didn’t commute from her parents home in Canterlot, she didn’t live in a small somewhat nicely furnished room in the palace, she f#ing got an entire building on the palace grounds. That level of special treatment, even as Tia’s protege, would probably result in a lot of complaints and friction at school if she was just a little peasant girl. She must’ve had a stronger shield than just being Tia’s favorite.
And Shining’s relationship with Cadance would also be much easier to defend before jealous nobles if he wasn’t just a regular grunt. After all at the time Cadance was literally EQ’s crown princess.
In most medieval settings/stories only nobles or military ranks equal to “knight” or higher are allowed to marry royalty. At least not without affecting their spouse’s position in the line of succession. So Shining becoming an elite soldier and quickly rising to the position of a high ranking commander was probably Tia’s way of protecting her little girl’s relationship. It all fits together neatly with no major contradictions. It’s my default head canon.

It’s either that they’re all connected to royalty in this AU or that it’s just an honorary title.
Many people have liked the idea that Twi’s family are lesser nobility, it’s why they have all the connections
Blueblood here is part of the “Family” not part of the old Noble blood.
The colored strands of her mane not properly crossing looks a bit off, but it still looks awesome.
Obviously one of the “prime mages”. Gee. Since when are Twi’s parents royalty?
Blueblood’s house is the only one with a royal bloodline going back to princess Platinum … but even he isn’t actually royalty. It’s either an honorary title with no claim to the throne or simply his over the top full name. Can’t remember if they clarified that part.
