“Yeah …do you now see why we need some help with magic lessons for Amber?”

Let’s just say Ambrosia inherited her dad’s magical prowess –though in her case, it less resulted in her being able to grow plants in seconds and lifting stoves with one hoof… and more, ripping the roof of the barn in a burst of magic. While that was concerning, Ambers parents figured they could teach her magic themselves; after all, Cheerliee was a teacher, and Sugar Belle was, you know, a unicorn. They spent many, many evenings with her out in the fields; ducking under apples wizzing by, running from branches as they speared the ground, clinging to each other as their hooves were flipped under them… it took until Amber accidentally exploded a tree for them to suck it up and admit they needed someone a lot better at magic for this.

It only took Twilight asking Amber to lift a quill for her to agree wholeheartedly. First lesson; turn it off.

An older sketch I found and finished –changing Sugar Belle to Cheerliee, to tell you how old the sketch was. Seeing as the couple has since then become a trio with Cheerilee, I thought it made more sense for her to go and ask Twilight for help; she’s known her for longer than Sugar has, and she has more experience with teaching than Big Mac :)

I also had Spike go from surprised to apathetic; it makes more sense to me now for his reaction to just be “Whelp, another day, another weird magic misshap. …Better get started on gathering these papers up.” =P
