Actually, they do.
German “w” (and in some words “v”) and English “v” both represent the same sound, the voiced labiodental fricative /v/.
English “w”, however, is the labio-velar approximant /w/, the consonantic version of the close back rounded vowel /u/ (as in English “boot”).
For completeness, German v is, if not like /v/, pronounced like the English and German “f”, the voiceLESS labiodental fricative /f/.
(Yes, the only difference between /f/ and /v/ is that the latter is voiced)
Except that your entire statement is invalidated by that fact that horses/ponies have ticklish responses irl, and many other animals have the same kind of physical response.
Which implies that the characters in teh series are equines as we know them… which they aren’t.
I see I misread your comment. It is still not the same sound, though. The German “w” and the English “w” are different, it’s true, but the German “w” does not sound like the English “v”. The only difference between the English “w” and the German “w” is that Germans put a lot less emphasis on that letter than native English speakers do.
Yeah, but what I meant was the German w souns just like the English v, so it can be pronounced. It’s just a different symbol for the same sound.
It’s not at all. they sound completely different. In the German language itself it is usually pronounced as “f”. Even when Germans say the alphabet, it is pronounced as “fau” (fow)
Huh? The English v is basically the same as the German w. Unless there’s some small difference that I don’t know about…
Oh, stop ruining our fun, Baldy Nosehair. Don’t you have some sort of ancient deity to fail at controlling? Or some woodland critters to kidnap?
Also, ponies don’t have fingers to tickle with, but then again magic = no explanation or logic needed.
No matter how many languages I filter, there’s always images in incomprehensible, often completely untranslated gibberish.
I feel that way about other topics.
NONE OF THEM.
>tickle torture isn’t one of them
ffs, how many tags do i have to block guys?
Now who wants to play best out of 101?
The realest sport there is!
A lot of them were awful, weren’t they?
But seriously, try to make a German say the letter “v”. It’ll come out as an “f” or a strange “w”. They just can’t pronounce it for some reason.
Fuck you, yes it is.
Tell that to everybody who made all of those bad WWII movies…
