Makes me wonder whats up with Spike since he was included in the final rainbow laser for some reason.
Really wished they touched on that.
When did silver quill say that?
The lore from S8, G4 has revealed that chimeric creatures do not occur naturally on Equus, as Twilight had been able to cancel out their nature by taking out the magic that united them. This means that all chimeric creatures had been developed by the first magical civilizations as experimenting with magic would lead to self-development and coincidences, and eventually created changes in the magical background. We know that the ponies may have been first out, as they have seaponies and pegasias - but this seemed to be about creating new “pastures” for new tribes rather than changing their nature, more in line with the theory of evolution. (With magic as well)
Others like griffons are more profound, like complete chimeric creatures that are so refined that they could have existed even in magiless circumstances. But intelligent examples of these “natural” chimera seem to be rare, as most remain unintelligent monsters like the original Chimera. And from S9 we had learned that Grogar - “the father of monsters” - had created most chimeric creatures to spread fear, establish an iron grip on his realms and use them as stormtroopers to spread his dominion. And thus we come to the “anthro” chimeric creatures; first out were the Minotaur, then the diamond dogs, then the centaurs - and the G4 movie showed us the abyssinians and the ornithians, all of whom have human torso and arms. In a world where the human does not exist because Lauren Faust has imposed a ban on the human on Equus. With their fingers making it easy to manipulate in comparison to others, especially since all “original” civilized sapients seem to be ungulates - these would have been very productive.
From G1 it is known that Grogar seems to be deeply intrigued by the concept of flexible hands with fingers, and in his kingdom Tambleon the troggles were forced to serve him because they had hands, but they appeared to be chimeric as well. No “original” creature in G1 or G4 has primate hands, although certain primate creatures were seen very exceptionally - which seems to have been censored away by the ban on the human. (those with hands like the witches and the Moochick seem to be “immigrants” to the world of ponies, Scorpan / the prince is a strange abnormality) If Grogar were to stand behind the “anthro” chimeras, the motive would be to use them as slaves as with the troggles, and the minotaurs as centaurs in our mythology had a history of being exploited. One question that will probably never be answered is where the human that was used as a template for the anthro races comes from. Maybe from Megan and her siblings? Grogar was “only” expelled for the next 500 years when his bell was broken. In both EQG and the IDW comics, there are hints of a possible Megan Williams.
It is possible that Cunebula is the first chimeric civilization that had emerged as one of the first magical civilizations, as we know the ponies originated somewhere other than on an island, which may have been used as an experimental area in its time. Since Pazuzu is the son of the evil god Hanbi, it is possible that Grogar may have been involved in the rise of Cunebula which may be separate from his realm Tambleon. Hanbi was so terrifying that very little is known about this “god of evil” from Mesopotamian mythology, but it is interesting to find out that he is associated with chimeric monsters and chaos, by having demons under his own control. Hanbi and Grogar seem to have slipped into each other over time so that they cannot be separated.
Grogar is the father of monsters. The master of fear. Representative of anyone who is evil in the world of ponies. May be the “father” of Discord and other draconequees. He has become very similar to Hanbi in our time, by symbolizing the dark and evil against the ponies who fight for good and light. He was known for Sombra, Chrysalis and Tirek who thought he was a legend - and with the exception of the arrogant Sombra, had come to fear him. If he was the emperor who ruled over a very large empire that could include Cunebula, it means that when Gusty the Great had liberated the whole world by stealing his bell and may have banished him and Tambleon in a permanent expulsion from Equus. If he had created the cunebulans who considered him lord and father, they may have been deeply hostile to the ponies for several millennia.
And as with Hanbi, Grogar was either forgotten or ignored after his time. As Cozy Glow demonstrated, the ponies know very little about Grogar just as we know about Hanbi.
You know, the pazuzu reference in issue 92 would actually relate the knights with the babylonian civilization and Cunabula confirm that.
Now the interesting thing is… why there is a reference to a godness/enchantress from the Celtic mythology like a knight from a babylonian civilization? Maybe the theory about being a really chimeric civilization that makes reference to different cultures is alright with how different are every knight from themself.
I don’t know what else to expect from this grand finale, but I’m definitely intrigued.
If the “knights” had really wanted to create harmony magic, and had benevolent plans for this, it must mean that they had wanted to copy the Tree of Harmony in Equestria, which had become known to the rest of the world after Discord was defeated, and they may have thought that the ponies created and used the elements of Harmony. We know better; We know that the Harmony was an unintended side effect of Starswirl’s plan to create a magical aid for future heroes, but even he admitted this exceeded all his expectations. Maybe they thought their project, which may have ended in a violent blowback right in their face, is the ponies’ fault, and that they are the source behind the fault with the element trees. It would give them motive for an attack on the Tree of Harmony and for destroying Equestria, because if Farasi had been hit so hard - what could have happened to Cunebula?
The Harmony magic is one of those basic magical power areas that very few could understand, much less manipulate smoothly - as Starswirl noted several times. Then “the knights” who may have reacted to Discord and Cosmos`s ravages on Equestria / Equuis, were too short-sighted and arrogant despite their historical background. They thought they could copy the ponies. But they do not have Everfree which is like a dam lake of raw magic. It is the mysterious nature of Everfree that has shaped the Tree of Harmony from the seed planted by the pillars.
Either way, it’s clear; something was very wrong with the element trees before the Harmony came to them. We will probably learn a little more about this in the next issue that may explain the whole matter.
We know “knights” did not want to get the temples active, and this may be because they may have discovered a failure, namely that the Tree of Harmony can take control of the element trees from them. We saw this every time these trees are activated, most clearly in the Zebra Arc. Therefore, the Tree of Harmony is attacked, even though the “knights” may not know that the Harmony is detached from the tree after Sombra’s attack. But we do not know why the temples were taken out, at first glance it seems that the “knights” stood for it, their project could have been turned against them. Tree of Love has been inactive from the very beginning in Ornithia - and the temple with this is the only one that has not been taken out.
What if those who received these “gifts” from the “knights” discovered the truth about them?
There is no temple at the diamond dogs - it appeared to have been demolished even though the tree remained intact. When Rockhoof came out to the desert where the temple was located, he noticed that someone had created a large gorge by digging it out, blocking the area from the rest of Farasi. It turned out that the desert was originally a green area with a lot of water, which was blocked out. If the “Temple of History” was at the heart of Farasi, (or whatever it was called at the time), it means that a catastrophe had hit the farasians who made the area of the temple inaccessible. And it is possible that the Grootslang was to protect the temple. In the Panthera, the temple was once the highlight, a symbol - but then the magic disappeared, and all of a sudden the Abyssinians decided that the temple should be removed; only the tree was intact in an isolated chamber.
Only two temples have been intact; in Farasi and Ornithia. In Caninia and Abyssinia we find only the trees - which were hidden away and under strict guard until they were forgotten. The ornihian queen believed the other temples had been attacked by outside enemies, and feared that the same would happen to the temple in her homeland. But it is possible that something else has happened; King Cat senior in Abyssinia and the mysterious Diamond Dog from Mount Metazoa, who may be the father of the six royal sisters, may have discovered that the trees in question are dangerous, but they did not dare to destroy them. The temples were demolished and the trees moved underground under the royal castles. They may have been warned of what had happened in Farasi.
There, the Farasians may have been forced to flee the site of the temple and lose a central part of their land. I would not be surprised if there are ruins under the desert that will emerge. But for the cats and dogs, it was too late, they begin to forget, and continue to be affected by the trees. Meowmeow Cat may have discovered this, and thus meant the magic is a danger that must go away, and he may have had honorable intentions when he wants to destroy the Tree of Purpose. But he ended up becoming a tyrant.
The more you ponder it - the more likely it becomes; that the “knights” had a malicious plan to destroy these realms in order to subdue them by their own power. But their plan went wrong, it is possible that they did not understand that they themselves will be affected. The “new” knights concluded that they should not reactivate “the element trees”, but they were probably not the ones who took out the temples. The fact that the temple in Cunabula has not been taken out, meant that the idea that their plan around the “element trees” may be malicious, is not misplaced.
It is possible, Twilight may have to protect the “knights” from the Harmony who can go berserk if they initially succeed in their purpose. We saw what happened to the Mean 6.
Silverquill’s observation made me think - and with brainstorming I then studied the comics, and come to a possible theory that my outburst that the “element trees” are scams, as it turned out that these are not “harmony trees” who thought is far more correct than I thought. We did not see this because it was very subtle - and it is a result of Whitley trolling us. But he trolled himself in the end.
When the Zebra arc came up, we had expected originality in culture, history and lore in Zecora’s homeland based on Africa - but this did not happen; the farasians had become as equestrian (american) as possible, there is no lore when zecora wanted to study magic and her upbringing with her friends was unusually cleansed of orginal culture. There was an impression that Andyprice and Whitley were concentrating on an American audience, thus clearing out the Farasian identity. But with Issue 100, this has been questioned, for the “harmony tree” in Farasi was the “Tree of History”. We know from Equestria that even though the tree was inactive, it had not stopped its influence on its surroundings. Harmony was very much alive in Equestria ever since Celestia and Luna found them, and a great help to them in times of crisis. Why did the history of Farasi disappear, since the tree was supposed to keep this alive? History included key values such as culture, tradition, identity. (and magic, the zebras were not known as magic users - but for their insight into magic, as seen in the show)
Then we came to the Diamond Dog Arc. Not much to learn about, but the diamond dogs “lost” their element tree by having it buried under the old castle. The story of the six royal sisters shows that the family ties were weakened, so that there was conflict, family quarrels and weakening of the social ties that bound all dogs. This may have created the “hidden kingdom” that we learned is deeply decentralized based on the pack of dogs. This may have made the diamond dogs hostile to everyone else even if the matter with the ponies was a bit complicated. Very good that the dogs’ practical sense and pack structure prevented the worst.
The Abyssinia Arc was simple; there was talk of the loss of magic, which at first glance is separated from the element tree. But the tree is the “Tree of Purpose” - which is about the ability to do, to fulfill its purpose with their own means and efforts. This includes magic. From Issue 100 p. 14 we could see an anugyptian cat that had not lost her magic (and strangely enough an anugyptian Jackal with the diamond dogs). The Abyssinians were traders who eventually had their entire economy and society based on profit and trade, which made them very vulnerable when the Storm King plundered them. Panthera was more capitalist than any other city in the whole of Equus with the exception of Manehattan in Equestria. The Abyssinians had not only lost their magic. Capper was a good example of this before he met the ponies.
Then we come to the Ornithia Arc or Parrot Arc, Silverquill had made a good observation when he saw it, which for once was laid out in the open. Ornithia despite the Tree of Love has a segregated society where different “tribes”, the raptors and the parrots live apart, just like the G5 pony tribes in the upcoming movie in 2021. The father, King Thaumas, had divorced his daughter and her best friend apart with bribes, ruined a relationship that later turned out to be romantic. Contrary to what the Tree of Love was supposed to represent. And the queen, who was supposed to represent kindness, was not good at her job. The Harmony from Equestria as seen with Zecora will come to them for a serious talk. This shows that Ornithia has lost unity, the feeling of being united through love.
This may prove that these “element trees” are actually harmful to the realms where they were planted by “knights” - even if they were to become inactive, they were not destroyed, and their internal magic would have been intact for centuries. It may also have led to people gradually but surely beginning to forget, and thus either losing or misinterpreting their values that the trees were to represent. But the “knights” may have built these for the purpose of obtaining true harmony magic, and they very abruptly interrupted their project. There is no answer to this, but since the Tree of Harmony itself - the original tree - is targeted in response to the activity of “their” trees, it can only mean that they had discovered a weakness; namely that the Harmony can take over the trees and still be out of their reach.
And this is what we saw when Zecora communicated with a miniature of herself in the temple with the Tree of History. From S9 we know that the Harmony has become intelligent as a living life form, which likes to show itself in other people’s image as when she as Twilight met the Young 6. The Mane 6 has assimilated harmony magic in itself that Discord discovered (although their magic against Sombra is more based on the ancient - and deadly rainbow magic) - and thus can lead the Harmony from Equestria to these damaged element trees. The Harmony will then repair these, and thus make them work exactly right, but on her own principles. The ornithian king will possibly be lectured in Twilight style when the danger to his realm is over.
The “knights” may have been distorted by their own creation which is the “Tree of Patriotism”, and ended up being a danger to themselves and others. The “princess” from Cunabula revealed that she and her people from Cunabula had a very strong grudge against the ponies from Equestria, and it was not Discord / Cosmos. Ponies. Then they realized that they could lose their trees which could be a failed attempt at harmony magic or a malicious attempt to sabotage other realms, especially to the Harmony which they think the ponies control (we know this is not correct). They could not accept this, so they attacked as soon as this was inevitable.
Hmm … I think Twilight Sparkle in the end will get her Friendship empire thanks to the knights and the Harmony.
Because an iconic villain from G1 is a better bait than a new character.
Just look at Mandarin, Taskmaster and Quicksilver, those 3 were a good bait in Marvel projects, many people are hyped for it but then, the twist that the writers believed the people can like it but went really wrong.
But unlike Marvel which actually will buse the real characters later, Grogar never will appear again unless he became into an official G5 villain later…
Well said. It is said that Whitley was let down by covid-19 and “corporate interference”, but really he should have avoided the whole case around the knights who not only stole the show but also made the crash more painful. It’s good on the one hand that the Harmony tree in Everfree remain unique and thus the established lore from the show is not challenged, but on the other hand it seems a bit sought after that the “barbarians” should be enlightened and guided through these trees that really are “element trees” - which by the way did not work properly. We get separate lore that has little to do with Equestria, and as it turned out, was hidden from the ponies.
https://www.equestriadaily.com/2021/07/lets-review-friendship-is-magic-100.html
I like the review of Silverquill, and agree with him that the whole thing was characterized by being poorly composed, greatly shortened and too strong a focus on plot. It could be seen on Issue 100 that the comic crew behind the work was not able to hammer all the details and in several places was simply too hasty. It’s like fast-forwarding a VHS video “to get to the point”, and thus ending up just smoothing it all over.
But Silverquill is right in saying that “the Tree of Love” and the conditions in Ornithia with separate sociability and element bearers that normally should not be worth this honor - especially the King and Queen - are a stark contradiction. trees “is flawed in comparison as the original. It is possible that the activity of the other trees may have been manipulated by the Harmony magic through the ponies. We know that Harmony in Equestria is intelligent and a very strong underlying power - so it (or she) - can be clear about what the “knights” have ambitions for, and that may explain why Zecora saw herself talking to herself. I think it was Harmony from S9. “Knights” may have discovered this, and chose to stop rather than give the ponies more power.
The whole matter around the knights is unnecessary. The idea of the S10 that the fans wholeheartedly embraced when FiM # 89 started was world exploration, to teach friendship and harmony to their neighbors if they were to be receptive to this (a continuation of the S8), even further beyond the oceans. We now know that “multiple harmony trees” are scams, but from Farasi we know that the Harmony is involved, and that these “element trees” did not work as they should. Abyssinia lost its magic. Farasi lost history. Caninia lost family value (for dogs, that’s important). Ornitihia lost unity. They have all lost something essential despite the trees. As with the kirins and when the Mane 6 is sent out on “friendship missions”, it is possible that the Harmony discovered this - and we know that Twilight as an alicorn is particularly receptive to impulses from magical sources such as the Harmony. And it is possible that the knights had become corrupt by their own work, because if their tree is linked to Patriotism - it meant that they likewise others lost it as well.
This may explain why the “knights” who have been depicted at the end of Issue 100 have nothing in common with each other despite coming from the same kingdom. They are all separate beings with very different character traits. Given the “Princess of Culabura” who turned out to be a chimera creature, these are obviously chimera creatures that did not represent the “Tree of Patriotism” - more like inverted “elements”. So the “Knights of Harmony” may have been a victim of their own hubis in their hostility to the ponies of Equestria - which more than anything else is related to the magic of harmony. (I think it’s because of the ancient “rainbow magic” from G1 which can easily be the forerunner of harmony magic)
When these five trees are activated - it was probably because Harmony had established contact with them, and thus corrected the errors.
Price is very good, but he tends to be a bit too “native”, just like the Italian Disney Comics artists of the 1950-1990 period. But his work in Issue 100 is a bit messy and characterized by haste and speed. Whitley, on the other hand … his story is now completely revealed; for THAT we lose the opportunity to take a closer look at the rest of the world in G4?
There is only speculation so far.
But the whole concept of multiple “harmony trees” is in fact a scam, these are actually “element trees” with emotion-based magic that may have been developed to capture the original harmony magic. A scam that can become a reality, because when the ponies found one tree after another, they discovered that the principles of harmony magic have been taken up by the trees. This may have caused “knights” who may actually be malicious and corrupt royals in an abandoned land, to stop their project and will prevent the activity of all the trees. So when they realize that it is not possible, they will steal the * original * tree with the real harmony magic.
“Knights” from the beginning are obviously hostile to the ponies in Equestria, and that their “help” to others was with hidden ulterior motives. They will not hesitate to destroy all five kingdoms to prevent their enemies from continuing to have harmony magic. They call themselves “knights” because they thought they were entitled to have this power, and they thought the ponies should be hated by the whole world. From the very beginning, they want to steal the magic of harmony, but seemed to want to avoid this for as long as possible. Their own mistakes forced them to act.
At first they may succeed, in FiM # 101, but I think they will discover that it has become very different around the harmony magic, and will lose in the end when all six trees unite against them in FiM # 102. They can not defend their actions based on old sins from so long ago, something that Twilight and her friends will point out.
It seems that an old enemy from the past of the ponies has appeared, possibly all the way back to the beginning of civilizations. Whitley, I hope for his sake that the lore from S9 is in # 101 and # 102. Because if not, the IDW canon will not be on the same level as the show canon.
That’s interesting, and all, but I don’t get what you’re trying to tell us here. Did you enjoy this or not? Because you clearly sound like you have something against Price.
The choice of Celtic god name is obviously not random, for the Celtic pre-Christian religion was notoriously gruesome - Ceridwen is called “the crooked woman”, who had no moral conscience - she has committed every mortal sin and even more, cannibalism and murder of her child. The Celts had eventually become so tired of this and so depressed that they were very quick to join Christianity. Whitley wants to show that “knights” were in fact cruel people who hid behind a false facade when they apparently taught others in the “name of goodness”. This name shows that “the Knights of Harmony” may have had malicious intent from the very beginning, and as Ceridwen revealed, was aimed at the ponies of Equestria.
We do not know much about pre-Equestria history, much less before the Pillars, but the ponies from the very beginning were special in comparison to everyone else; they managed to dispel the windigos, they controlled the celestial bodies and mastered more magical skills than anyone else. It is possible that Ponyland, now under ice, was the first magical civilization. Cunabula may have been in contact with Ponyland and later with Equestria, and since the name is in Latin - and which means “original dwelling place”, which suggests that one of the first civilizations had originated there. Since the knights appeared to be chimera creatures even though they were royal, it is possible that Cunabula was the origin of the intelligent chimera races in Equuis. But we know the ponies do NOT start there.
The ponies and the mysterious inhabitants of Cunabula may have come into conflict in the end, destroying the realm by exposing the corrupt royals or forcing the population to go out to the rest of the world, leaving only the royals. From the Abyssinia Arc we have received indirect indications that the ponies were not peaceful, as the Anugyptian cats are forced to flee to another continent. Jealousy and rivalry may have been what created the false knights when they were given the opportunity created by Discord’s chaotic rule. Think about it; the abyssinians had known conflicts with the ponies, and Bastet, who led the anugyptian cats, was bitter towards the ponies. The diamond dogs and ponies got into a long-running low-intensity conflict that only recently ended. From a book in Celestia’s Forbidden Library we have the title “War of Zebra”, which indicates a pony-zebra war (a recent fanfiction has appeared in Fimfiction) which may have ended with the ponies having to give up their colonies on the continent there Farasi is located. The ornithians are something we know very little about, but since piracy is legal there, they can easily come into conflict with other powers such as Equestria. The temples may have been placed there against such a background.
The knights made use of very extensive knowledge of magic to create clones of the original tree, but they could do little more than create magical trees associated with relationships such as “Love”, “Family”, “History”, “Purpose “and” Patriotism “- and created a separate tree type,” the element trees “. Harmony magic as we know it is not emotion-based magic in contrast to these trees which in the end will only become a minor part of the original tree. The Knights had probably realized the mistake when they realized that the only thing they were doing was to give extra strength to the original tree that remained under the ponies’ control. Emotion-based magic is easier to work with than more advanced magic such as harmony, chaos and other things like rainbow magic, the ponies’ specialty.
Issue 100 shows us why the pegasi is so formidable, Rainbow actually drilled through earth and rock by flying so fast, that she created a “Mach cone” with concentrated air in front of her. It explained how the wonderbolts could cut off the spikes on Spike in the episode “Secret of my excess”. No wonder the pegasi armies were feared.
It will be the time when these temples are erected, and it may be true. But the Abyssinian king Cat senior would have informed the others about this as he was helping to fight the chaos under Discord`s regime in Equestria. Besides, why should he hide the tree and get rid of magical objects and keep secret the legacy of the Anugyptian cats?
If the five trees in Abyssinia, Caninia, Farasi, Ornithia and the Knights’ homeland Cunabula are in fact fake harmony trees based on the original harmony tree in Everfree - there is an explanation for this, that “knights” will steal the original harmony magic and have it under their own control. Then it meant that the sixth and last tree is the only real harmony tree. “The Princess of Cunabula” pointed out that she is “a new knight”, we do not yet have an answer to this. Since the ponies did not know about the trees outside Equestria for a long time, it is obvious that they were kept secret from them. Celestia is not the type who wants to hide secrets from her mentor or if it could endanger her ponies. The trees are of more recent date - post-Discord - and were kept secret from the ponies in Equestria. The Diamond Dogs and the ponies had probably come into conflict with each other. A natural disaster hidden away the temple in Farasi, which quickly came into oblivion with the zebras. The ornithian kings chose to keep the temple secret from their own people as well, and took advantage of their culture to hide the tree by having it as the throne in full public view. But why had not the Abyssinians informed the ponies about this, since they have close relations with Equestria, and Cat senior was an acquaintance of the royal sisters. When the Storm King got there, it looks like Cat senior simply does not know about the tree, which was found by his son Meow Cat.
The “Knights” had probably wanted to steal the harmony magic that may have arisen in Everfree as a natural consequence of a past with a lot of raw magic that may have accumulated over the millennia, so that a seed planted in harmony magic will become the well-known tree. But they had not been able to do so, and changed their minds to prevent their project from bearing fruit. Maybe because they realized that their attempt to find and steal the magic had only made it stronger. It may have caused them to take out the temples. It is possible that the Abyssinians “forgot” the magic tree that became a myth, and the same thing happened to the diamond dogs. But not Ornithia. It is possible that the temple was saved by moving the city from the clouds down to the land, and the ornithians avoided the fate of others.
All this seemed to be rooted in a hateful relationship with the ponies of Equestria, it is possible that the “knights” were royals who lost their realm and thus will seek revenge by making use of knowledge that had been created and gathered in their land, which may have housed one of the first magical civilizations. In the end, when they realized that they can not prevent the completion of the project and thus risk making their enemies much stronger - they chose to return to the idea of taking the magic of harmony. With the active temples they have the opportunity, but the magic is not long the same. Their attempts can trigger disaster. For the harmony magic is not only intelligent and stronger, it is like a dam that held back raw magic in Everfree. Moreover, it seems that the “knights” intended not only to destroy Equestria, but also all other kingdoms that have these “element trees” as these really are. This can make the harmony magic go berserk.
Cunabula’s hostility to Equestria is obviously far older than the “Knights of Harmony” and the false temples. On p. 10 when Prince Huginn (Hugin in our world without an extra n, all Scandinavians know it) saw Rainbow Dash, a G1 pony face was visible in his thought bubble. Does this go SO far back in history? In any case, they will be defeated, and then the new generation of heads of state, led by Twilight, will decide the fate of the corrupt royals. Since the “knights” had wanted to steal the magic of harmony and then wanted to destroy Equestria and all its allies motivated by an ancient hatred, it is obvious that they must be sent to Tartarus.
For what i see in issue 100, the knights are post-Shadow Play and in the times of Discord/Cosmos reign.
appear to be chimera creatures, and if they had come from one of the first magical civilizations as the name “Cunabula” suggests, it is possible that Grogar played an important role. The lore from S8 in G4 has revealed that chimera creatures do not have natural roots, they had to be created through magic. It is possible that the first civilizations had learned how to manipulate life forms and change them or put them together into new life forms, and we have indirectly seen this confirmed through the account of Grogar in S9. It is possible that the “knights” initially had honorable intentions, but ended up being hateful and insidious as many years later came up with a plan that would lead them to the true harmony magic. They build these temples in order to find the original harmony tree.
But I think this plan went wrong when Celestia had to banish her sister to the moon, and this resulted in the elements becoming inactive, and thus the tree could not be traced down. Then Twilight and her friends began their adventure, and the harmony tree is reactivated. But then all the other “temples” were inactive.
Got an idea - maybe it’s crazy - but what about the Tambelon and the caprinian (“caprinae” for sheep, goats) civilization lying there in the gorge around the Everfree with Ponyville and Canterlot? We do not know what happened when Grogar lost his bell, but from G1 we know that he had two bells, one smaller and one larger - and that if the larger one is destroyed, he and the city of Tambelon will disappear into the dark realm for 500 years. Gusty the Great did not destroy the bell, but hid it - and may have banished Tambelon forever from Equuis. Incredibly raw magic was back, which may explain why harmony magic could arise in Everfree as a natural counterpoint to what Grogar had left behind.
No one knows if this was before Equestria was founded or not, for this word is used in two parts; about pony populated land or about the realm of ponies as a state. Griffons claimed this land which has been abandoned for a long time, until the arrival of the Great Frost. Until then, this land had not been colonized for several millennia. It is possible that the knights are aware of this, and thus want control over the harmony magic for their own purposes - and this may have followed them into conflict with the ponies, perhaps similar to after Grogar may have been banished forever. This may have triggered the destruction of Cunabula if the ponies managed to lead the inhabitants away from the corrupt royals.
After a long time, the “knights”, who are actually royals of a ruined kingdom, decided to take advantage of the fact that they were forgotten, and thus built the temples. This may explain why they were unknown to the ponies and a well-kept secret in other kingdoms.
And after looking through the whole issue, it is obvious that these temples and the Knights of Harmony are really nothing but fakes, for these temples were planted as a counter to the Equestria of chimera creatures, this “Princess of Cunabula” is a half bird , half snake. The temples had possibly been knocked out either by the “new” Knights of Harmony, or by the royal sisters - or others from Equestria. These temples work, of course - but then these trees were meant as an aid in the beginning against “minor” threats. But I do not think these can work against mighty magical creatures without the sixth tree or “bond” - which is in Equestria. Starswirl had traveled all over the known world - there is some confirmed information that he is a thousand years old (I do not believe this, but where was he between the founding of the modern Equestria and when he had to be a mentor / adoptive father for two alicorn foals ?) - and if he does not know about it, while it is said that the temples were built in the period when Equestria came under attack by the sirens, the Shadow Pony, Tirek, Discord - it means that these temples were of more recent date and hidden from the ponies.
The “Knights of Harmony” from the beginning were probably enemies of the ponies, who are the most powerful magical people in the world, and who may have formed the first of the ancient civilizations based on the use of magic. We know that Starswirl planted the seed that will become the harmony tree, but it happened in Everfree - a place that has raw and dark magic from a very long time ago that no one has any explanation for. It makes me think; from Mount Metazoa it has been discovered when the ponies moved to central Equestria during the Great Emigration, the griffons had claimed this area as “Terra Incognitsa”. Far away from the nearest griffon territory. If the Knights of Harmony have a plan to destroy Equestria through the use of the temples - it meant that they need the missing element - which is in the Everfree. Where the harmony tree has been rebuilt by the Young 6 as a tree house. Maybe the griffons in older times (they unfortunately lose much of their history) have a reason for this. In any case, it seems that the Knights of Harmony know that there is a force that can destroy the ponies. And they have found it thanks to the activity of all the temples.
Cunabula means “original dwelling place”, so the knights of Harmony are either survivors of this realm - or chimera creatures created by the mysterious cunabula inhabitants. And from what the Princess of Cunabula had said, it is obvious that the ponies in Equestria had an important role to play in erasing this land from the map. If the ancient ponies had wiped out this civilization, there must be an explanation for this. But it is clear that knights possess considerable magical knowledge that give them very great benefits in the face of natural magical beings. Twilight needs all the help against them.
The multiple harmony trees are false. Likewise with the knights of Harmony who seemed to hate the ponies and wanted to wipe out chaos in the rest of the world. Their real goal, due to something that happened between them and the ancient ponies, was to steal the true harmony magic and take revenge. But this can turn against them, because with friendship all five trees can be linked to the only original tree which after the destruction has become a powerful magical force in itself - which can be generated through the element bearers.
The knights of harmony will “take” the harmony tree, as this is the original they really want to get - but if S9 is followed faithfully here, this is not long possible. With the destruction of the tree and the rebuilding under the auspices of the Young 6, it has turned out that the harmony magic had gained its own intelligence, and thus will not accept the abuse of those who want their own version of harmony. Especially not by those who hate ponies. Thus, they can risk triggering catastrophic consequences in the try, and this is Twilight and her friends clearly aware of.
These fake knights had to be stopped.
