I realized the bar was very thin once I adjusted AJ’s hand facing the viewer, but I didn’t bother to fix it even though it looked weird to me. I know that barbells are much thicker than that, I’ve been to the gym myself for years, some are thicker on the sides but the ones I used weren’t. The original sketch had it much thicker, but when I went back to fix it by using the lines tool is when I didn’t bother to make the sides bigger even though I noticed, I figured most people wouldn’t notice as much as me.
I don’t really plan on changing it but I will keep it in mind for the next time I draw gym ponies because weights are already pretty hard to draw and I wanna get them right.
Changing the diameter of the middle and end sections would probably be enough. No one expects some proper-proper detail on them, I would think.
Olympic barbells (the more professional ones that are present at the gyms and such) have bigger diameter weight-mount sections at the ends, and that’s basically it. I :thiiiink: the grip section should also be a tiny bit thicker to be comfortable, looking at AJ’s grip, but… I don’t want to sound like I’m preaching here or acting like some kind of expert. The art is great, whether you fancy updating it in the future or not.
And, seeing how well you drew all the characters, I’m sure basic gym equipment should be a relaxing piece of cake. At the end of the day it’s just a bunch of cylinders :p

This is my first time drawing any kind of weights, I’ve never done it before.
