Is that in total or just animation? If it’s just animation, they might consider Crunching a bit. As a bonus smaller teams tend to produce less derp animations overall (lol cyclops pony) since its easier to check what everyone is all working on.

I’m quite happy with the way our ponies look, but something’s always bugged me about characters with stupidly long thin legs. I’ll take Pony!Jack over HighSchool!Jack anyday.

They are not really like actual equines, yes, but the series as a whole was started by Lauren Faust’s original sketches.

It also is made on a much, much smaller budget than the average Top Draw production. One episode of FiM takes roughly $500K to make, IIRC.

Well. They certainly have longer legs. I personally prefer slightly more realism, but then again, I’m a sketch artist. When I do have cartoons, my characters just usually have bigger heads, and less detail. See “here.”:bronyheresy.deviantart.com

Monster High has some pretty funky animation at times, but it’s not like you watch the show for the animation or to see characters walking around. :T

People who enjoy incredibly stylized cartoon horses redlining EQG art in order to imply they are badly drawn.

Ears on the ponies are set more to the side of their head, then ontop, to give them a more ‘human’ look and appeal. The human versions lack that.  
The legs are far to long, and yes, I know it’s a cartoon, but keep in mind that little girls might take these cartoon characters as example about how they should be. Not to mention the way to thin waistline.  
Even with basically the same pony model, the characters as ponies were vastly different. That is not much the case with the humans.  
Last but not least, I still find the feet to be painfull looking and can’t imagine how painfull and stick like the walking animation will look like, with basically no foot length to use.
