I don’t think I will ever get over the writers thinking its funny to make Spike a dog in EQG..
Well theres the cact that at the smack-dab end of the comic and oc the episode, Spike recieves his own pet just like how Twilight and Rainbow Dash recieve theirs. And its not just any kind of pet but one that best fits Spikes personality and as a species, based on interactions, Dragons and Phoenixes rarely get along but when you both have little idea about what kind of relationship your default species has you can blossom a greater friendship.
Spike had PeeWee for about less than 20 seconds of screentime before PeeWee was retgone’d. Just imagine the creative possibilities you can go with for a Dragon Assistant and his pet Phoenix hatchling, the funny interactions and dialogue that could come with the premise.
*Spike blows out a candle as he’s about to go to sleep, only for PeeWee to sneeze causing the candle to be relit.
*Spike and PeeWee running in from the cold snowy weather outside and running towards the fireplace and curling up inside.
*Spike coming out of a dark area with a lantern in hand, and upon coming outside into a brighter location Spike opens the lantern and PeeWee flies out of it having served as the ‘flame’.
Isn’t ‘More Spike’ what we want in MLP? Why is it that Faust constantly gives Spike all of these cool things only for them to be abandoned halfway through.
*Gets a pet phoenix, only has it for a few seconds of screentime.
*Helps save the Crystal Empire from Sombra with Candence, is left behind to watch over the Mane Six’s pets in a 2-parter where the Mane Six goes up to the same Empire to help it get into the Equestrian Games.
*Is the closest with Twilight that in many instances we see them acting like siblings to even being like a mother and son, gets turned into a dog in the EQG Movies.
@SolidTrig
Dragon Quest hate wtf?
There are far worse episodes.
It may have been a bit underwhelming in that you may have hoped more out of the whole meeting teh dragons/Spike heritage deal, but it’s passable.
And it had Crackle! You can’t argue with Crackle.
…And back to this comic pls.
I had the same thoughts about another country of dragons in the show, but I always imagined that country to be based in asian culture (Chinese, Japanese, Korean).
Also, Spike needs a good dragon role model in his life.
So far in my headcanon that dragon country would be somewhat the equal of the Soviet Union/Russian Federation in the Equestrian world. (Since part of the dragon mithology are stronger in countries of the extinct Soviet nation)
Go home bad comic book, you’re drunk.
Strong contender for worst episode ever.
Hell yeah, that’d be great. The good dragon could be sort of a second mentor to Spike.
I’d say it’s because that episode had plenty of potential, squandered by a shitty direction, but this comic was the same thing as the episode, so what is even the hell.
Anyone else wishes there were a sequel to DQ in which Spike is forced to grapple with the reality of his own race, but ultimately discovers dragons that aren’t douchebags?
