@Background Pony #D6AA
You are wrong on one aspect of this statement: I place Sunny above Hitch not because I am attracted to her in any way but simply because I really enjoy her design and I really like the idea of an actual brony being in the show (since she is clearly a fan of the previous Mane Six, much like any other brony here is a fan of the G4 ponies). In a way, Sunny best represents the fanbase, and I think it is amazing that we now have a character like that in MLP. The other characters to me just feel like they are a bit too close to being replicas of G4 characters (with the exception of Hitch-I don’t think we have seen any characters like him in MLP).
Also, I do hope that we get at least one more male character in the show, as well. One thing I liked about the G4 Student Six was that two of the characters (Sandbar and Gallus) were male, breaking the trend of all-female groups that we have seen with the Mane Six and the Cutie Mark Crusaders. It would be really nice to have two main characters that are male in G5, as well.
@RainbowStrike20
Obviously, male characters don’t attract the predominantly hetero male fanbase as much as female characters do. This is why Zipp and Hitch (the two most masculine characters) are substantially lower than the rest. Nothing wrong with straight dudes preferring waifu-esque characters, of course.
But even I (a prime example of the waifufag demographic) would place Hitch above both Zipp and Sunny based on the quality of his design. I really, REALLY like his color palette. Kinda wish one of the females had his colors instead; they might give my precious Pipp a run for her money in that case xD
(On a related note, I also really hope we get one more male MC. Plenty of people are speculating that the villain of the film could potentially be reformed at the end and join up with the current Mane 5. That’d help balance the inequity in representation between both the gender and race of our main cast of protagonists. You know, assuming the villain in question ends up being a male unicorn, of course.)
@LionDash
Where is the love for Sunny? No one is talking about how much they love that character, either, LionDash. Personally, I place Sunny as my favorite, followed by Zipp and then Izzy. Hitch Trailblazer (who is named after a car) is my least favorite of the Mane 5.
For me, Pipp is winning points everyday, but that wave animation of Izzy is just… Adorable :3. We’ll see how their personalities are. Can’t wait to watch the movie!
That animation is why. She seems so happy and friendly. And of course the tennis ball is a further hook. No one else has an equivalent (good) defining point. Sunny is a Brony, Hitch might be a dog, Pipp might be fun, or she might be a self-obsessed camhorse. Zipp is just angerey.
It’s not that she is bad; it’s just that I don’t find her type of personality interesting.
So we could say Pipp has good design but bad personality?
In hindsight, it is hilarious that the character I liked most pre-release is the same character I disliked most post-release.
YES! Totally agree. Love her personality and everything.

EDIT: I chose Pipp, btw.
