There are times when I almost give up on the Sonic fandom.
Then I think, “Hey, at least they’re not bronies.”
I didn’t mean to say say Archie was better then Sega, (I ment that’s how some people feel, I didn’t mean it was my opinion.) I like some of the games, and comics personally.
I find it ironic whenever MLP fans complain about Sonic “recolor” characters, (regardless if they’re canon, or fan-made) considering, they’re apparently fine with almost every official canon, or fan-made PONY character being a recolor of each other, as well.
I’d say the abundance of canon “recolor” characters are more numerous in MLP then Sonic.
Don’t believe me, color Rainbow Dash grey, give her yellow mane/tail/eyes, cross her eyes, give her a bubble cutie-mark, and you got “Derpy.” She’s a recolor of Rainbow Dash, and we all like her regardless.
Also, the green color for Scourge was possibly ment as an homage to the old “Ashura the hedgehog” gliche from the original Sonic 2. (So it’s kinda a clever “mythology gag.”)
They also changed Evil Sonic/Scourge’s personality and look in order to not only make him more different from Sonic, but also to keep future writers of the comic from pulling that lame “it was Evil Sonic disguised as Sonic the whole time he was acting O.O.C.” plot-twist ever again. So I feel it was actually done for the “betterment” of the series.
But to each their own.
But I think their crowning achievement is the reintroduction of Metal Sonic 1.0 as Shard the Hedgehog.
Honestly, that is why there is a filter option. Reading complaints about Sonic crossovers are as bad as going over the bad fan art until some good ones show up.
Re: Archie being better than Sega, again, hooray for low expectations!
And while Bizarro Sonic does date back to 1994 according to my sources, Green Bizarro Sonic was introduced well after Shadow and the fan recolors had already blighted the fandom, so that’s no excuse. In fact, it’s arguably worse that they took an existing character, the respectable if cliché evil twin, and turned him into every OC on DeviantArt.
The last absolutely great Sonic platformer was in 2011. It’s called Sonic Generations.
The last absolutely great GAME about Sonic was like 6 months ago, that one is Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed.
For crying out loud, why does everyone jump on the Sonic hate badwagon? “3D SANIC?! B00 AUTO FAIL WORST GAME EVAR”
Hey, Lightning Dust may not be as evil as him, but that doesn’t mean that he wouldn’t want her.
Remember Fiona Fox? He hooked up with her despite her being a good guy at the time.
Y’know, some people feel the Archie Sonic comics are better then the Sonic games at this point. I enjoy the comics personally.
Also, to be fair, Scourge is technically an older character (older then Shadow & Silver in fact) and was around before the flood of “Donut Steel” fan-characters…
Though, admittedly, Scourge wasn’t as cool back when he was blue, and just called “Evil Sonic.” I’d rather he be a recolor with a different personality, and name, and an actual threat, then a samecolor with the same personality, and such.
Wait, seriously? Donut Steel up there is canon in the comics?
I… I want to make fun of Archie, but to be entirely honest I can’t think of anything more insulting than pointing at that thing and saying “THIS. THIS IS WHAT YOU’VE DONE.”
Scourge the Hedgehog is from the “Sonic the Hedgehog” & “Sonic Universe” comics by Archie Comics. He’s basically an evil version of Sonic from another parallel world/dimension who got turned green from messing with the Master Emerald. (Kinda like the famous “Ashura the Hedgehog” gliche from Sonic 2.)
Now before you all rant about Scourge being another “lame recolor hedgehog,” keep in mind, unlike Shadow & Silver, he actually is a genuinely evil hedgehog, and Sonic usually doesn’t beat him as easily. (So I think I kinda prefer him over Shadow & Silver personally.)
Though, don’t understand why he’d be with Lightening Dust. She’s not evil, just conceited.
Hooray for low expectations!
We at least have good source material. The last absolutely great Sonic game was in what, like 1994?
Why didn’t I thought of that?!
well played.
