It’s a pretty common slapstick shot. You wouldn’t really be able to see the character being trampled if underfoot so it makes more sense to have the character bounce around like so. George of the Jungle didn’t copy MLP, it’s been a long standing cliche. Seen it multiple times in Looney Toon episodes pre-dating both these.

Yeah it’s pretty similar on that shot, but on George of the jungle the Rhinos are stampeding from right to left and George is bouncing up and down in one point, meanwhile on MLP, the Buffalos go from left to right and Pinkie is bouncing but is also being pushed from right to left.
