Agreed.
For a movie it kinda does I can’t really think of a lot Shows that became a movie only series thats not an adaptation
True.
Is just that people feel like G4 always need the show in order to spawn many other media, and if the show is over it’s no longer necessary. (which is why EqG will never have a conclusion and FiM will never have a critically redeeming sequel movie so Hasbro can stop being considered as the critic’s punching bag)
Be glad G5 is connected to G4 compared to past standalone gens.
Edited
G5 is a soft reboot
Also I’m realising your doesn’t need fim Argument is not relevant because sequel a of the movie would still have friendship is magic
Edited
But it still didn’t need FiM for it to exist.
I know what you said, but so will be the G5 series on Netflix.
Edited
Pony like was a new show Not a sequel
At least Pony Life didn’t need FiM. If It did, the show wouldn’t exist.
Spongebob didn’t get in of the mouli into years later and they felt more like TV specials anyway.
Your implying that they turn into just movies? Even then the show ended it didn’t just stop
By that logic, the SpongeBob movies weren’t a franchise to begin with.
Also it’s spelled comparison. Again, is FiM necessary to have other media?
Edited
I also said to early for a revival special.
It wasn’t building to a franchise.
So I dont think your transformer compulsion works Because we are not talking about reboots
Edited
If it’s too late, then Candace Against the Universe wouldn’t be made after Phineas and Ferb ended.
Besides, sequels are made when its predecessors are box office successes.
Besides, do you really need the show to have other media to work? Because Hasbro didn’t need to make a G1 series revival in order to make the Bumblebee movie and the War for Cybertron Trilogy.
If that were the case, then critics shouldn’t have ignored that the film is faithful to the source material by not being a live action movie, if it didn’t, I would be okay with the 2017 movie being an one-off rather than just a franchise that was abruptly stopped due to the show being cancelled after 9 seasons.
Edited
We found out the show was ending literally a week after it was released And by the time a sequel would have time out it would have been too late to work as a grand finale To early for a revived special.
I don’t begrudge Netflix cancelling or not cancelling shows. They probably see what’s being streamed and what isn’t, and budget accordingly.
@Background Pony #E0E6
Damn, didn’t realize it was that successful at the box office. Goes to show you what responsible budgeting will do. And yeah, that’s probably another issue. Yeah, we’re getting vaccinated now, but the production’s probably been pushed back more than once.
September 24th would have been horrible for a theatrical run anyway. No Good Time To Die is literally the next Friday, and will likely eat up screen real-estate. Not that I think one would cannibalize the other NECESSARILY, but given the delays No Good Time To Die has had (and their OWN failed attempt at a Netflix deal), they’re probably going to be pressing theaters to put their movie on as many screens as possible, and a film like MLP will likely not get as much of a chance as a result. This doesn’t include whatever ELSE is probably going to be added to that window.
Hasbro probably got a good check from Netflix, and saw it as easy money.
But did it get a direct sequel? Nope. But the so-called success just turned a hard reboot into a soft one.
Edited
And I’m just sure that the Fact that the pandemic will cause a delay vaccine or not has nothing to do with it
Also
The 2017 movie
Budget = 6.5 million
Box Office = 60.3 million
Edited
I just wish they hadn’t gone to Netflix. There’s a bunch of other streaming services that allow for movies both on the service and in theaters at the same time but Netflix demands exclusivity.
Also Netflix used to be a great place for saving series but I hear these days they are quick to cancel series, so that doesn’t look good for the series itself to also be a Netflix exclusive.
Naw. Once we reach herd immunity, the theater is going to make one HELL of a comeback.
Like others have said, this is going straight to Netflix because there’s no faith that a theatrical run will make a large enough profit to justify it. I imagine the last MLP movie made very little in theaters and had a successful home run.
Oh, I see.
Nope, I’m a Brazilian who really likes voice acting… Mainly Latin American Spanish, as it usually is somewhat linked to Brazilian Portuguese voice acting.
I thought you were from any Spanish speaking part of Latin America.
Yeah, hate to admit it, but you are right. The lockdowns are ending, but after a year of being forced to stay in our homes? Most of the populous are gonna be skittish of the outside world for awhile.
The US Government! Collecting taxes and giving a whole nation a collective case of Agoraphobia!
