It’s talking to the food … even animals in our world know cactus plants have a lot of valuable water in them, and thus will eat them in deserts and other water-poor landscapes. That is why the cacti have spikes, to protect themselves from grazing animals. And Cactus Rose here is a grazing animal, which must feed on plants.
