Isn’t this basically the same for every dark or depressing TV show? Although sometimes some people like to write sad stories.
I remember before it was even announced, didn’t Zach Callisan (Steven’s VA) say one particular scene he had to do had him legitimately crying at one point?
Yes. Steven Universe Future’s emotional moments probably affected a lot those who worked on it! Working on something lighter and softer is the best thing to do.
Then you’ll be glad to know that trend is just about nonexistent in SU Future.
which fallows up from SU, where he forgave a lot of the villains.
ignoring that, is like ignoring what came before Shippuden.
GaruuSpike & I were talking about SU Future.
Who did he shatter during SU then?
@GaruuSpike
Facts about SU Future: Steven literally fantasized about shattering White Diamond and was tempted to make it a reality. This shortly after actually shattering Jasper. He feels uncomfortable whenever talking with the Diamonds, especially White Diamond. He instinctively distrusted the Aquamarine-Eyeball fusion even when she looked like she was trying to be good. So no, Steven did not forgive everyone who’s antagonized him. If he did at one point, by SU Future, that’s all over.
That’s not true, but I don’t give enough of a shit to look up specific examples. Suffice it to say that it takes a lot of strength to forgive, that strength gets worn down over time, and forgiving doesn’t mean forgetting.
Still, things like the fusion experiments, the various monsters, and the deeply personal story of finding out that his mom was a huge war criminal and a whole lot of Gems blamed him for his mom’s mistakes since he has his mom’s Gem (and the related existential
crisis), all come together to make one very traumatized young adult.

I’d believe that. . . . . .
If not for the fact he kept forgiving everyone that tried to either kill him, his friends or the entire planet and they instantly become friends.
Yeah Steven Universe Future definitely ended up getting dark.
that said I won’t be in a rush to see it because well I’m almost never in a rush to see things.
@GaruuSpike
Let’s see how it’ll go… Seeing how emotional Steven Universe Future was, I wouldn’t be surprised if most of the people who worked on it moved on to lighter, softer things.
Steven Universe Future is mostly about Steven trying to deal with the giant PTSD that comes from seeing some really messed up shit and/or having something trying to kill him on a weekly basis for 3-4 years of his early teenage years. When it’s all over and there’s no more fighting, the stress and anxiety doesn’t go away. It just festers, expecting something to go horribly wrong at any second. It doesn’t help that shit is still trying to kill him, just way less often, and half the time it’s his own fault.
You know that feeling when you miss a step on the staircase and you’re pretty sure you’re going to die? It’s like that, but it never stops.
So yeah, I, too, am interested in that mood difference

I wonder how it feels to go from a sad, serious series(I assume Steven Universe Future is like that, anyway) to a mostly comedic one.
Taneka Stotts. She worked in Steven Universe Future (one of my favorite series after MLP) and now works in Pony Life!
