There is a difference between a shitpost and a meme and you got it backwards.

Yeah Wikipedia isn’t a credible source, but when you’re dealing with internet lingo, it’s just as good of a source as any. A shitpost is something that has much less work put into it than “real” art (think of cheap & quick MS Paint images), is intentionally ironic, and it’s meant to derail a thread. Once a particular idea is repeated enough times, it becomes a meme - a meme literally just means “a repeated idea or thing”. Some shitposts actually have become memes, like that one where people take the title of something and MS-Paint the letters in a different order so it says a weird thing. This however, is more of just a straight forward and honest meme.
If you really want to get down to it, it’s also a meme to abuse the word “shitpost”, to instead make it describe a “cheap meme”. The definition of what a “cheap” meme even is, is of course arbitrary.
