So did I actually. :)
Oh. I thought Pbooru was just shorthand.
Ponibooru shut down in 2011 yes.
pbooru is an entirely different thing. It came up a year or so after Ponibooru went down and held an archive, but for years its uploads were managed by a bot, and for the last 3-4 years that overwhelming majority of uploads were pure lolicon (as in 9 year olds…) and not much else.
Ponibooru had its issues, but it should never, ever, be confused with the necrotic pimple that was pbooru.
Oh. I thought PB shut down years ago. Never heard of the other one you mentioned. Guess that explains it, though.
They weren’t lost forever. I still have the entire collection saved
Aw, nuts.
Ponibooru announced it was shutting down in June 2011 and set the site to read only, for the next few months most of the site’s active users moved here, and several of them put the effort in to transfer over images from ponibooru over to here throughout the months following.
A lot of stuff didn’t make it; obviously a lot of random memes and the like (like the image for this thread, riffing on how often PB would go down in its later days), but also genuine art, ranging from sketches from well known artists (at the time) to pretty decent stuff from complete unknowns. The appalling tagging and sourcing of ponibooru didn’t help, as archives often had no relevant metadata for images and crawling through each image was a terrible chore.
I can see all the bathrooms in Canterlot from here!

Explain.
afaik pbooru shut down permanently.
While for the last 7-8 years it was almost entirely just used for hosting lolicon, it also carried an old archive of ponibooru, which included several thousand images that never made it here during The Exodus.
minuette also shut down some time ago, so the number of publicly accessible and easily usable archives of ponibooru proper is pretty much zero now.
Derpy: Oh of course! Thank you Princess Twilight! *gives Twiley a thank you winghug and kiss before trotting off to finish her image macro about Ponibooru being down*
