I think it would’ve been better if Spike were the villain of that particular arc because, when you really think about it, he’s usually the one on the sidelines.

It would’ve been awesome if Nightmare Rarity had actually turned Spike into this form to serve her. I can only hope they eventually decide to make a season premier/finale based on that comic.
