The option of a custom name tag is being considered right now. However, I have to wonder, what makes you think you earn the exclusive main tag for the OC pony name “Midnight Light” (main tag, as in, only the name and no addition to distinct it)?
It is quite a privilege to have an officially supported OC name tag and accompanying description here on Derpibooru, not every OC gets this honor. I can see why this happens for very popular OCs that significantly shaped the fandom and are an important part of brony fandom and MLP: FiM culture and history, such as Littlepip or Nyx. Due to their unique status in ponyfiction and in the fandom, I would say it is justified to make their name tags exclusive in such a way. But why does Midnight Light receive such exclusivity?
I don’t know the history of your OC pony but purely by checking its tag, I find only 55 pictures of an OC pony who seems (pardon the comparison) like a rather generic, dark pony OC like there are many in the fandom. I don’t see anything that would elevate your pony OC on the level of Nyx or Littlepip. While I can find other OC ponies who have a similar popularity like Midnight Light and a similar number of art pieces, but they don’t have a description regardless.
So, why does Midnight Light have a description, but not other OC ponies that are similarly popular? What are the criteria of getting a description of your OC?

While it is true one can’t claim a name of an OC, one can technically claim a tag here on Derpi. And here’s why; you click on the OC tag of this here picture, and it takes you to a page with all of this OC’s pictures. But the first thing you see at the top is the OC description.
I’m not going blind or going delusional just yet, but, the description is for another OC, not the one you see in this picture.
My friend had the same issue with OC tagging and descriptions, except when already met with a tag that had plenty of OC pictures mixed in, he was advised to make an OC tag of his own.
So here’s what I’ll suggest to you and the artist. Make your own, please do not take mine. Add an extra letter, make it just a typo different, whichever suits you. :)
The artist you talked to has decided to ignore your comment. How would you feel, I wonder, if someone came and claimed that you can’t call and tag your OC pony with their name, just because there happens to be another artist who already has a pony OC with that name for a longer time than you do?
Names are a very personal matter and no artist can claim an OC pony’s name for them and only them or has the right to tell another artist to make up a different name for their OC pony for the purpose of tagging them here.
You seem to be a big fan of the other Midnight Light, judging by your intrusion with removing her name tag here, but you must respect that there might be other artists who have given their pony OCs the same name independently from the creator of the older Midnight Light.
Just because an artist named their OC pony in a certain way doesn’t mean they exclusively own the name and can deny other artists to use that name tag for their own OC ponies.
OC tag should be changed. Current Midnight Light is already taken by another OC

Yeah, I know about that and that is a very interesting perspective on Dinky. And yes, she is known as the runt of the family, sadly.
From what I’ve gathered, Minty Root says her magic is like Scootaloo’s flight, stuck at a remedial stage and will only deteriorate as she grows up. Her name also implies she’s short. So… Autism and really bad teeth as well, then?

Yes, I believe she does has similar disabilities, though Dinky has a loving and supporting family and friends, she knows her strengths and weaknesses so they can manage well.
Oh. The poor thing… I still wonder what Dinky has… Something similar?
Their growth is stunted, so they probably won’t get much taller without some form of magic to help. Their teeth are considered a defective trait cluttered to the center as well. And as well with mental disabilities, autism, not being able to use sound waves as good as others, and unable to fly smoothly being a couple of the known disabilities.
