Why is her tail unprotected?

The vacuum of space does horrible things to it, not to mention the temperatures between +200 to -200 degrees Celsius (+392 to -328 degrees Fahrenheit) Provided of course Equestria’s moon has the same conditions as the Earth’s moon has.

Oh and I can hear it already, It’s Magic!

Then why not just use a magic carpet to fly to the moon instead? Seriously, if you want to do science then at least make some effort to get it right. ;)
