Description

Cracked has slapped up a list of 30 “out of nowhere dark moments” from various TV shows and movies. Number 21 on the list is the solitary confinment Princess Luna endured for 1000 years on the moon. Could she have gotten by with 100 years instead? Even 50 seems like it would be reasonable rehabilitation!

Agreed. I do feel they have to have some resistance to the passage of time naturally, else Celestia would be stark raving mad by now, but I somehow doubt the elements were cruel enough to keep her conscious and alone on the moon for a thousand years.

No, it’s a result of her being essentially transported into a culture 1000 years removed from her own, not from the mental torture of 1000 years of solitary confinement.
 
We don’t even know if she was fully conscious for those 1000 years.
