Well let’s look at this dispassionately.
 
Twilight  
-very smart  
-going places  
-great magical power  
-sweetheart
 
Rarity  
-smart  
-pretty  
-going places  
-big sweetheart
 
Best thing Twilight can do for you is pull some strings with the princess for you. Which is something she does rarely.  
She’ll be active in your life and a good friend all the same.  
But duties to the Princess will always come first.
 
Rarity will make stuff for you and treat you. Remain active in your life etc etc and will be willing to put you before her career (within boundaries obviously)
 
Now the worst thing Twilight will do is go crazy with devotion to the princess and abuse her magic like it’s her job.
 
Worst thing Rarity will do is put your extravagant birthday gift on hold to pursue big opportunities.

Considering you were part of the discussion I’m gonna assume you didn’t know how to answer back and resorted to end the discussion.

You guys forgot that Twilight, Rarity or any other character is who he/she is because script writer (and partially animator too) decided so. If they want, they can make anyone acting like a total dick/bitch and make it canon so let’s leave fights like this until the end of MLP

I never said that Rarity is a bad berson. Everypony from mane 6 is great. But if i sum up their drawbacks, Twilight wins this match

Twilight is just Twilight. Young mare with great power and a bit of personality problems. But that’s what makes her so interesting. I can always expect something new from her while Rarity is predictable. Also we are a bit offtopic now so let me sum up: In my opinion Rarity has more drawbacks than twilight

Rarity? Shallow? Have you ever watched the show?
 
She’s a lady, but she’s not afraid of fighting. She hates getting dirty, but will cover herself in mud for her sister. She’s can generous, and at the same time be concerned for herself. She cares about her appearance and is proud about it, but she isn’t arrogant, she doesn’t flaunt it to others with bad intentions. She is very expressive and dramatic but on serious matters she can handle things with calm. She cares for her friends enough to put her reputation on danger more than once. She isn’t insensitive or a bitch, despite what other may think because of the usual “pretty” or “fashionista” kind of character. She can realize her mistakes pretty quick, and will go to great lengths to correct them.
 
Rarity is not part of the shallow people you talk about. Maybe having a friend like that could change your mind.

That doesn’t excuse how Twilight acts, and as in my previous point, Rarity would eventually ADJUST if she had to deal with Twilight levels of power. She’s the element of Generosity. If she was genuinely causing havoc she’d figure out what she was doing wrong and stop.

Twi makes a lot more chaos because of her magic. Give her the same abilities like Rarity and you have peace (or Rarity with Twi power = discord)

because i have OCD i can tell you that it’s not as easy as it sounds. You can cure some parts of it but not everything (4 ex i still wash my hands like a maniac)

Maybe. But she’s also generous and is at least willing to ADMIT her faults, unlike Twilight who had multiple episodes that wouldn’t have had occured if she’d tried to fix her ridiculous perfectionism in S1.

It’s of course a matter of taste. My favourite pony is…Fluttershy. You’ll ask: “why? shes the worst of all mane 6” and it’s probably true. But the thing is i have a female friend just like her (with a bit of twilight). She might be annoying at the begining but when you get used to her, you discover a whole new person with a great personality. People like Rarity look pretty shallow compared to her
