You know this maybe is a cool joke, but making main ponies species and other ones as a “innocent” and the ones who look like a ponies who are evil, mkaing them not ponies is just…too much

True but I will say that I can get herbivores being instinctively cautious around predators. Which could easily be seen on some level as a ‘I’m weak, you can push me around without any problem’ response by the preds (like in real life) – which makes the herbivores even more wary and jumpy, and encourages the predators to get even more aggressive, and so forth.
They could be rejecting the Equestrian version of it. They may see ‘friendship’ as more of a ‘bare is brotherless back’ thing than ‘let’s get together and have a tea party’ attitude of Equestria.
I’m amazed that an episode showing Ponyville not prejudging Gilda, which they didn’t, somehow shows they prejudge griffons. In fact, there are other episodes with griffons in them. Gustave comes to mind. Nopony cared. I’m afraid the ‘ponies are xenophobes’ narrative doesn’t hold much water. If anything, ponies are not welcome in other places, such as Griffonstone, Yakyakistan until recently, the Dragon Lands until recently, Seaquestria until recently, the Changeling Hive until recently…
Also similar to how some of the Student Six’s backgrounds are. Particularly Smolder, Gallus and Ocellus. They grew up in very oppressive environments and in cultures where you were forced to conform to societies standards or be tough just to survive. I’m betting that was intentional.
The Drow or any other evil society from Forgotten Realms comes to mind. Or Griffonstone from the show. Places where everybody just looks out for themselves and friendship is a liability because you never know when and if your friend would betray you. People still work together and form alliances because it’s beneficial (status, money, favors) but not because they care about each other.
Of course, even in such a society people would make friends. But they probably kept that to themselves.
As in the movie “The 300” - it’s Equestria.
Exactly… but then again if they writer’s followed basic logic, then they wouldn’t be able to shoehorn in the central theme of the franchise… again and again and again… whether we like it or not… even if we tell them directly “we heard you the first time.”
Individuals can wholesale reject it, but societies?
Different names. Swift Foot does not refer to her father, but to a historical figure called “King Thrace”. This Diomedes did not appear to be as powerfully built as Thrace.
But it’s very interesting that they have a T-shaped mask on their heads with cheek protection that seemed to serve as a symbol for the Thracians. Since Swift Foot was able to communicate over long distances using external magic - which Earth Ponies cannot use as the magic is internal to this breed, it meant that the Thracians are different from their relatives. Her cutie mark showed why she was sent out on assignment to sabotage the contest.
That is perhaps why these masks are given great importance, it may have been possible to use magic through these magical “amulets” and thus may have been the essence of the culture of the Thracians. King Thrace has an interesting cutie mark though that may have revealed his talent on how to channel the internal magic into objects so they can use the magic outside their own bodies.
Although Swift Foot should cancel the mission and ensure her people will not be discovered, it is certain that the Thracians will be a problem for Princess Twilight after the coronation when she wants to open up the country and explore the rest of the world. The Thracians will regard her politics as a threat to them, and since she is not as powerful as Celestia or as intimidating as Luna, and a novice to take over the control of Equestria, they will take their chances rather than stand idle.
It’s a shame that we’re probably not going to see much of them because this is only a three issue story. Hopefully it’s not the last time we’re seeing them. King Diomedes and the Thracians would make an interesting villain for a future story arc. Not to mention that I would a story arc where the Mane Six have to travel to their country.
Xenophobia is not racism. It’s called “fear of strangers” - and in the world Equuis, the ponies had many neighbors who were not only essentially different, but also aggressive, harsh, and sometimes dangerous, like griffons who are carnivorous. The term “monster” is not used about animals or beings in a world where intelligence is widespread, but about their behavior in the face of other intelligent beings. In the TV show there are many indications that the ponies had a warlike past not only between the “tribes” but also against the non-ponies - in a temple that Daring Do had been in, we saw a stonework of a pegasus fight a griffon.
Since Celestia had to banish her sister to the moon, she had kept her country strongly isolated from the rest of the world as her purpose was to provide the ponies she regarded as her children, security, stability and harmony. Thus, the ponies should be far behind the rest of the world in the matter of accepting different beings - just like the yaks. As Twilight grows to become a future princess, Celestia took important steps to end the isolation, though it was too late to stop the Storm King. Moreover, it is obvious that large parts of Equestria are not well known as there is more talk of “the country populated by ponies” rather than a political construction. There are autonomous territories in the country itself with its own heads of state.
Very similar to the United States in the 19th century. There are great distances in Equestria in contrast to in the Europe where there are many states at close quarters apart.

Not a single person cared about Zecora being a zebra. You’re literally misinterpreting the episode for the sake of racism that doesn’t exist.
Not only that but most people dont recognize things that happen outside their own country.

They can. The map of Equestria has shown that there are large deserted areas, rugged terrain with lots of mountains, wetlands and few communications that are not heavily traffic between population centers that vary between small villages and larger cities with the exception of a few that can accommodate hundreds of thousands. When Tirek attacked Canterlot, he had free way from Grogar’s hiding place without being discovered or confronted.
Tempest Shadow and her staff had proven that they knew their strategy, and thus were skilled in raid planning - the attack against Canterlot was a huge raid in itself. With very fast airships that had engine operation - these in Equestria use air manipulation and thus only needed magic, not engine - one can quickly travel great distances without being detected in time.
The hippogriffs were allies of Equestria, but Celestia simply did not know that they were defeated, and it probably happened several weeks before the attack. There is nothing about intelligence organizations other than S.M.I.L.E that were meant for monster elimination and were dissolved before Twilight came to Ponyville.
There is a strong possibility that the Thracians have their own intelligence active in Equestria where they did not run the risk of being discovered. It is also possible that their homeland, Thrace, which we know is an island - lies within the boundaries of Equestria without being mapped as seen with the Peak of Peril and the Kirin tribe.
You’re trying to rationalize a plot hole in the movie. Even if we accept that Equestria is completely ignorant of the outside world, meaning they have no agents in other countries or any intelligence network, I cannot believe that Tempest’s armada of airships could fly across the middle of the country unnoticed.
1: We didn’t see that happen. Even as Neighsay insulted several heads of state right up in the face of them, Celestia did not intervene there and then. He did not admit his mistake until the end of the season when he realized that non-ponies could be of great help to him and his people.
2: The griffon Grida did not have it easy in Ponyville, which led to conflict and loss of friendship with Raindow Dash, her behavior pushed the ponies away, confirmed their prejudice. And prejudice is seen many times in the TV show about Equestria as seen with the zebra that the residents of Ponyville kept away from. Not because she came from Everfree, but because she was something they couldn’t place.
3: The Mane 6 was in several cities, including Manehattan and Canterlot - especially in the big city that has large port facilities, there should be several non-ponies on the streets, but these are hardly seen. In both the TV show and the comics, it is seen that there are almost only ponies, and non-ponies who, with Iron Will, “marketed” their identity to captivate the audience and make a fortune. Despite the train connection to Griffonstone, griffons like Grida are not often seen in Equestria although the rail network makes it easy to travel around the continent.
And the equestrians did not know about the aggressive conqueror from the south until Tempest Shadow appeared amidst the celebrations in Canterlot hundreds of miles into the country itself. They had no warning whatsoever, even when the hippogriffs were forced to flee the surface. This is evidence of strong isolation.
Celestia does not punish Neighsay because he realizes he made a mistake and is moving to be better. That has nothing to do with xenophobia.
Bridle Gossip was not about them being xenophoic. Zecora lived in the Everfree Forest, which is filled with a ton of dangerous things. So they became scared of her because she lived in that same forest.
And one small country town =/= most of Equestria.
Also rare to see non-ponies in Equestria? 1) Animation effort and 2) Countries are going to be filled predominantly by their natives.
…Did they name that bearded pony after the actual Diomedes of mythology?
