Yes actually and it’s often joked that this was one of those times where two completely different studios made exactly the same movie at exactly the same time. Some conspiracy theories say it was on purpose because one director somehow stole the idea from another, or they both drew inspiration from something else, but I’ve yet to see a really concrete and truthful explanation beyond just incredible coincidence. The difference is Madagascar actually went on to become a huge franchise success and actually managed to make some sequel content that was much better than the original (including, from what I hear, the weird penguin spin off show), meanwhile The Wild is hardly remembered.
 
The Wild and Madagascar both shared a suspiciously similar premise, but one was more of a Shrek-ish comedy and the other wanted to be your typical “emotional pixar masterpiece”, and did so to mixed results. I don’t think The Wild was really amazing, but it was decent. Hell I can’t really even remember it.
