Yep. It’s also why we probably didn’t see a lot of aged up foals too (e.g. an older Pipsqueak, an older Rumble, etc.).
The former seems the most likely reason, which is why we didn’t get to see a lot of bg ponies during the song portion.
My possible guess was time or budget limitations maybe (that could also explain why Gallus didn’t change much either).
I also want to know how come Smolder’s body aged up, but not her head?
I don’t think he did. Which is rather odd since all of the other student six did. I would have changed the shape and size of his beak and made him a bit larger.
