Well, the Young Six seem to just barely be adults too, so the age range of everycreature in the finale is incredibly wonky as it is.

They can’t be in their 20s because the CMC, Cake Twins and so on are all adults now.

Yeah, Lauren and Jim have both said that the ponies are in their 20’s (Spike too, but something something dragons age slower).

Wait their in there 20’s, I thought they were middle aged at least, god their new designs make them look so old.

I’m into their older designs overall, but the bags are the biggest problems I have with them. Not only is it a lazy way of making a character look older, it makes no sense based on their ages. The mane cast are supposed to be in their 20’s. But since Pinkie Pie’s and Big Mac’s kids are just old enough to be foals, they should be relatively younger looking. Their moms don’t have bags under their eyes like that, it doesn’t make sense that the mane cast would at a younger age.
 
The only reason I can think of is that it’s a result of constant adventuring and tiring themselves out over the years. That’d make sense, but it still just looks too off on them and doesn’t come across as natural.
