But seriously, you’ll see at least half of your contemporaries die anyway, regardless whether you’re immortal or not. So it’s not that big of a deal. And far outweighted by other things you mentioned.
Because that’s the first thing a lot of people think of. That’s what I think of if I think about living forever. Beyond getting to watch history unfold, languages change, politics shift, and the continents drift, I get to watch all my contemporaries die.
The Tantabus makes it canonical that Luna at certain points is extremely depressed, and Celestia has this weird forced serenity detachment thing going on. They both cray cray.
That’s actually more interaction than Spike and Flurry had in the series! Something I woulda loved to see.

This. I mean if Celestia and Luna can keep their spirits and their sanities going through 10 centuries of various generations of ponies birthing and dying then Twilight can too.
