Huh…you know, as brutal as it is watching rice pone get beaten? There’s some insight into the way Pinkamena things about him here. She beats him when she is aggressive and angry, but that last frame being described the way it is leads me to believe she perhaps feels guilty for beating him but doesn’t know how to be different.
 
It could also be her regretting being involved with him in the first place, but if that were the case she’d have killed him by now. He is alive because she loves him, after all.
