Why is the comic not canon? Is it because Sunset states that her sleepover at Pinkie Pie’s at the beginning of the comic is her firs time sleepover?

Sunset has the journal she uses to write to Princess Twilight in this comic, so it take place after Rainbow Rocks.

i would think the elements of harmony better judges of character. for fucks sake applejack is a human lair detector and for the most part so is Pinkie. Pretty sure if they just gave sunset the benefit of the doubt they would have found the culprits were their own sisters the entire time

Well, it’s easy to say that with the benefit of hindsight. But I wouldn’t be too hard on them, after all teenagers aren’t known for thinking rationally when their emotions are running high.

The smear attempt came about after she released how much of a threat Twi was to her plans and it didn’t seem that it was against the rules(which is surprising given how horrific bullying is these days). As for giving random students mean looks, unless they were sophomores or above I doubt they’d think anything of it except her just being the typical high school jerkass(before the whole turning into a demon thing that is). Her fake texting the human five to break them apart in the first place shows she knew how to be subtle when necessary(though the human five never bothering to look into said texts till Twilight showed up also helped).

We saw her smear attempt on Twilight and giving the stink eye to randos. She wasn’t subtle.
Maybe that’s the point: Self sabotage by IDW so they’re not obliged to make another EG comics.
And yet during Rainbow rocks they make it a point to say she was not like that anymore and was going out of her way to help people and be a good person. In this comic the girls just take the rumors at face value and basically tell her to fuck off…like…what?
The fact that there was so much evidence pointing to Sunset should of been a big red flag. It was stated in the first Equestria Girls movie that Sunset was the reigning school alpha bitch for three years, heavily implying that she was good hat covering her tracks so that no one could ever pin anything on her.
Then that tells me the girls are either dumb as fuck or the writers of this comic must thing we have short term memory because nothing bout this comic makes any damn sense
