Well the one thing I’ve never understood is why anyone would rather wait for the official airing than watch it sooner.

It splits the fandom in half. Half the fans and artist watch the leaks, half wait for the official airing. Whereas without a leak, every gets the see the episode at the same time, together. All the artist start making art of the episode at the same time. There’s a sense of community and togetherness that just isn’t there when you have these earlier releases like this.
