It shouldn’t be purposefully vague. If you’re gonna say a character is gay, just say it.
 
Don’t be vague and escape to Twitter, the guy makes a solid point. If you want this to work, don’t tiptoe around it. Ratburn is much more than a 1 dimensional character and doesn’t rely on his sexuality. He’s a good character if he’s gay or not.
 
This in MLP however… That just saying they’re gay for the sake of money and ratings.

It’s not a problem and I never said it was? And you completely disregard one point: I believe they put in gay marriage into Arthur specifically for the parents and those who grew up with the show. My point is: kids don’t care or even understand what sexuality is until they’re older. Not all children know what being “gay, lesbian, etc” entails, so it doesn’t matter to them. A show shouldn’t have to teach this to children, their parents should.
 
Also, who even watches PBS anymore anyways? That’s another thing, does representation matter if almost no one is there to watch it? When I was young and Arthur was airing GOOD episodes, I don’t even remember once talking about the show to another kid. Everyone else watched Spongebob. I can’t imagine how many people watch it now.
