I personally hated that Steven somehow managed to redeem like, 90% of the villains just by talking to them for 5 minutes on why Earth is a great place. I wanted a villain that was so evil that Steven would have had to learn that some people are so evil that they will not change no matter what you say or do, that he would have been forced to shatter someone. The closest we got to something like that was Jasper. In also hated in the last episode how quickly the diamonds were redeemed. It was like, “poof, blue diamond redeemed” 5 minutes later, “poof, yellow diamond redeemed” another 5 to 10 minutes “poof, White diamond redeemed.” SU’s villain redemptions are worse than Mlp’s
 
I also didn’t like the fusion spam at the end, seemed a bit too fan service-y. It was like “Oh, the fans didn’t get to see these fusions throughout the show, so lets spam them within a 5 minute time frame”

Steven Universe is deeply flawed, but not because of the LGBT representation. It was because of the over abundance of filler, dragged out stories that weren’t developed properly, Rose Quartz turned out to be a blood thirsty lying psycho, and the main conflict concludes with “let’s engage in civil debate with an empire that’s killed hundreds of planets”. The fact that you’re only focusing on the LGBT aspect and claiming LGBT is attention whoring is just relentlessly fucking stupid.

Fair point. The canon straight couples in the show don’t really kiss from what I remember. Hugs, nuzzling, nose boops, but not much kissing.

Again, that’s another good point and that kind of goes back to what the other BP was saying. If the two of them were an aunt and uncle, there would be much of a shitstorm, if any at all.

Disregarding the talk of animation and character design in Arthur, if the kids can handle an episode where D.W. fantasizes about princes kissing princesses in fairy tales and the characters do have married straight parents, then a gay wedding shouldn’t even be that much a problem.
 
Kids can understand that. When I was little, I loved The Lion King and I found out that Elton John was gay. Even though I was young and not gay myself, I picked up and understood what it meant rather easily.
 
Not to mention some kids have gay parents and some kids are gay themselves too.

From memory, I remember it being a show about fifth graders and their lives as children, not the adults. It just seems like they’re putting these things into shows so it can appeal to the adults watching it. The children don’t know what “gay” means, so it’s not going to mean anything to them. I remember watching a movie who had two lesbians as the main stars, and I had no idea why they were kissing or what it meant.
 
I don’t really have an argument, and not do I have anything against Ratburn being gay (other than it being strange to apply sexuality to a character i never needed to think about a sexuality for… ever) I just hate this newer Arthur. The animation’s almost as bad as Ratburn’s fugly ass husband.

Why would it have to “do” anything with sexuality. A person’s sexuality has no impact on who they are as a person. It makes perfect sense for a show like Arthur to show it as an everyday part of life.

I haven’t watched Arthur in years, and I never remember Mr. Ratburn even being slightly gay. Or straight. Or really any sexuality because THE SHOW HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH SEXUALITY. Maybe I’m biased because I actually grew up watching Arthur, but I never remember them ever, and I mean ever, touching on any sexuality.
 
I also might be biased because the new Arthur episodes look like hot garbage from every angle. The animation looks terrible and I saw they added new characters… Ew.
