You mean, curse resistance?
 
Yeah, in ds3, armor with curse resistance turns them from a very palpable threat to something that could only beat you if you did literally nothing.
 
In ds1, however, there is no curse resistant armor. Instead, you need high “liquid” humanity, since humanity massively increases curse resistance.
