normally ungulates cannot articulate their shoulders, so the hoof to heart pose is part of that anatomy cheating. the extra twistiness in the foreleg as well, since quadrupeds typically need a fused radius and ulna. those restrictions are all for structural support though, and doesn’t look weird if a pony’s not currently walking on their front legs. so anatomical cheating should still be based on some sort of anatomy, if possible. it’s not always possible.
