Don’t forget The Clone Wars. That one was hard and dark as heck.
We still had some cartoons during the 2000’s that dealt with heavy topics such as avatar the last airbender which touched upon war, genocide, revenge, imperialism and much more although I do agree that cartoons nowadays seem to want to coddle children these days even though they’re actually a lot smarter and sometimes more mature than moral guardians give them credit for.
